I really enjoyed this one. It kept my mind churning about who the killer could be, and I couldn't even figure it out. I really liked Nearly as a character. The writing was superb. Definitely looking forward to anything Elle Cosimano writes.

This was a fast gripping read. I had a few theories but in the end it got a little predictable. I do own the sequel so I may finish Nearly's story soon.

Can I just say that this book is pure amazingness and yes I know that's not a word. For Cosimano's debut novel I think she hit it perfectly! I enjoyed the touch of romance along with the science/math twist (which gives the novel an interesting element). I also loved Cosimano's use of detail in each of the character's thought processes and the overall plot. Another aspect I enjoyed was how each page had me thinking about a different possible suspect. At one point I was like "oh yeah so and so is it" and then I changed my mind over and over. This novel had me thinking until the end. A true page turner! It is a great read and I'd recommend reading it along with Aprilynne Pike's "Sleep No More" which is similar if you like murder mysteries!
dark mysterious tense slow-paced

Really enjoyed this one. Review to come.

Loved the book! Great story that keeps you guessing. I could not put it down.

I didn't know what to expect when I started reading this book. I kinda jumped into reading this one, it has an amazing cover, as you can see. And it proved to me much more than I expected.
Nearly has always been the odd kid in her high school. And she doesn't really want to have contact with anyone, because she can have impressions of their feelings and thoughts when she touches them. But then strange notes pile up and people die and Reece gets into her life and nothing is the same anymore.
I have always been a HUGE fan of thrillers and mysteries. The thrill of finding out the villain in the story is something I enjoy immensely. And this story provided so much mystery and anticipation, that I loved. This book is perfect on the creepy factor. The neighborhood that Nearly lives in is creepy and dangerous and the things she sees are dangerous, too. It gave a really chilly effect to the story and the plot is swift and interesting, not boring at all.
There is the constant suspicion of every character and you don't know who you can trust or not. Everyone has a motive darker than the one before it. The main characters, Nearly and Reece are both three-dimensional and complicated and lovable, nonetheless. I fell in love with both of them and wanted the best for them both.
The romance is a huge factor in the story. It was not too little and not overdone. I loved the interactions between them and their true care for each other. It felt as real as our own lives. If you are a fan of thrillers and mysteries with an intelligence factor, then this is the one for YOU!

A good YA, mystery thriller! At first I was a little thrown off by the whole “can taste emotions through touch” thing but once I got used to it, it felt like a hidden quirk with just the right amount of weirdness to it.

Firstly..... am I the only one who hates it when a book is compared to another book or tv show because of their similar genres? It's annoying and makes it feel like you're about to read a second hand carbon-copy.

I liked Nearly's character. I can totally relate to the whole 'I'm seriously anti-social because I want get a scholarship and go off to an Ivy League so my mom and I can have a better life'. That's totally fine. She got a bit annoying when it came to her interactions with other people around her. Maybe because she's a bit emotionally closed off for whatever reason (bit ironic considering her 'gift') and so she's impulsive. Just like when she nearly busted Reece in front of the entire school.

Another thing: the whole bloody Mcbadboy thing which is too common. I got a bit apprehensive at Reece's presence, he snuck up on me and I couldn't help but like him. He was so patient with Nearly even when she irritated the very core of my being.

Elle Cosimano did a great job of weaving the story together and painting in the ending in such a way that you think "Oh sh*t I should have seen that coming but I totally didn't even though it was obvious."

It reached a certain depth expected of a YA novel and had an impressive finish (despite having little or no resemblances to Fringe or Bones). It's a niche of its own really.
