Absolutely loved the book and the characters. The way they both stayed loyal to their vows and didn't waver was mad respectful. (We'll pretend that Jase didn't willingly become captive near the end.) The only thing that bugged me was how this book was marketed as a fantasy, but it just ended up becoming more of a historical-ish fiction. The fantasy vibe just didn’t really come through. And it would have been much more enjoyable if the enemies phase was longer; still love them, though.

took me almost a year to finish this book omg and it wasn't even worth it!!
the biggest plot twist was jase being white tbh
i thought i didn't like romance but i fear most writers just cannot make their male leads likeable!! like you could make them anyone you want but they all end up the same immature, brooding, borderline abusive (blonde) bellend??

like i'm meant to be rooting for the man with pretty much no personality who had no issue with enabling human traffickers until he found out his gf was almost kidnapped by one?

also, what was the need for this to be fantasy when there were literally no fantasy aspects?? bring back dragons bro i'm so sick of this...
the writing wasn't even bad, there were just sm frustrating parts that I couldn't enjoy it
massive waste of time will Not be reading book 2!!
