dnf’d my reread, i was never in the mood to pick this up but i still haven’t read the second one

okay, holy shit. im mad at myself for putting this book off for so long. literally obsessed. and imma be honest, i didnt expect to enjoy this book that much but damn i was wrong.

3.5 stars
i definitely enjoyed this i just wish they were enemies for longer and it felt like such instalove. at times it didn't feel like fantasy to me either and the plot kinda got lost

my fault for being so impatient but it was cute, thrilling too! i need to give fantasy another chance.

I loved it so much! So fast paced and plot twists, I loved the characters and their growth throughout the book!

Jase became the new leader of the Ballenger empire when his father died. Kazi is a legendary former street thief sent by the queen to investigate transgressions against the new settlements. When Kazi arrives on the land of the Ballengers, she learns there’s more to Jase than she first thought as a game of cat and mouse unfurls between them.

DANCE OF THIEVES has been on my TBR for ages and I’m happy I finally picked it up. It was only as I finished reading that I discovered this book to be a spinoff from a prior series written by this author, but despite this I had no issues following along.

Pearson’s writing is crisp and clear with a good amount of world building. The novel is told in dual POV, and the audiobook narration features dual narrators, making for a great listening experience.

Kazi and Jase are two people with wildly different life experiences, but I loved how their mutual mistrust and unique views eventually lead them down a path to where their lives intertwine. The relationship they share develops into something sweet and tender as the story progresses. I really enjoyed the supporting characters too!

The plot is medium-paced with plenty of secrets to unravel, culminating in an ending that leaves me eager to read the next book in the series!

Okay I really enjoyed this, I will say that the romance felt too strong too quick and it did have the classic assumption/miscommunication trope but It didn't bother me too much. Overall I was really into it. Excited to see where it goes in the next book.
