I enjoyed the pacing and depth to this book a lot more than the original Remnant Chronicles trilogy. I still felt like the romance was a bit too insta-love, but I did enjoy the chemistry between the two. The ending though! I’m excited for the next book.

I didn't love the beginning so it took me forever to get into it, but once it got started I really enjoyed it.

Where’s our Queen of Venda? We need someone to handle politics actually well nowadays.

DID NOT FINISH

dnf 60%—I just don’t follow the political plot at all, and I’m too tired for all these names. No rating, but no interest either. I’m not sure I much like Pearson as an author. Oh well.

I wish it had all been a book about being chained together crossing a desert and had developed the characters slowly that way. That would have made a much more entertaining book imo. The pacing is too disjointed and I had a very hard time keeping up with the sudden whiplash scenes followed by a hundred pages of plodding nothing.

Disappoint.
