Favourite Quote: “No one else gets to kill you, Ms. Vitalio," he spoke quietly. "The last face you see before you die will be mine. When it comes to death, you're mine”.”

Tropes: mafia romance, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, found family, mystery, revenge

It was good it had spice and a lot of love / hate but I enjoyed the mystery and twists the story took!

I would probably say it’s more of a soft mafia romance there were more aloof moments than grey ones but I got the whole staring thing maybe just me but it made sense. It lent to the whole predator prey thing going on.

These 2 had revenge on the mind filed with hate and loathing it was a good read. I thought I was going to be darker than it was which shocked me and there were a few moments that I got a bit lost but overall I really enjoyed the story and can’t wait to start book 2.

I feel like the dad has something to do with it or maybe the boss?? I don’t know I just have a vibe here about something and I can’t quite figure it out!

If you enjoyed this book, great!

I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t like RuNyx writing style. It is what it is.

The predator was overall …

Storyline/Plot - Meh
Suspense - Where?
Cliffhanger - nothing special
Spice - Dull
FMC - riddled with inner monologues that bored me
MMC - run of the mill dark, at times cliché

I’m glad it’s over.

This book as such strong Knox vibes and I loved it so much. I was a little skeptical at the start because I didn't know if the whole reason why they were enemies (at least from Tristan's side) would ever be addressed but as the story went on, it started to made sense. THE AMOUNT OF EYE CONTACT IN THIS BOOK HAD ME GOING CRAZY (in the best way possible)

Morana is such an entertaining character. The way Tristan's movements are described is so satisfying and attractive to me. Amara has my heart, she is so sweet, precious and kind despite everything that happened to her. Dante is *tucks hair behind ear* kinda really cute and hot. Whatever the little something is going between Amara and Dante, I support it.

Second last chapter made me shed a few tears....
The last chapter???? hello???
the kiss in the rain????
yes.

hai🙄🙄🙄 I've never rolled my eyes so much reading a book , not as much as while I was reading the ritual by Shantel Tessier 🤣😂. Heck, I've read fanfics better than this.

The author over explains more than just telling us the story🙄🚮, and she /he has this thing where she/he uses the same expressions/ phrases or repeats the same sentences again and again, like let it rest bestie we get It, the boys always and will never hurt children and women💀

Not much is really going on, honestly, especially after the codes go missing. Like guys, what plan are y'all working on to get that person who has the codes, SHOW US‼️‼️‼️‼️.

Another thing that vexes me is the author saying how dangerous this Tristen is over and over🙄🙄🙄 Like rest, we get it. he is dangerous. SHOW US ke or SHUT IT hawu 🫵🏾🚮.

And then we come to the reason they hate each other,🙄🙄🙄, 74% in to the book and I still don't know why🚮🙄🚮🙄😤😤, Ke-ENG⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️ like Spill already yho.

And the girl,  hai, I don't believe the genius claims on her✋🏾‼️ cause her actions nje are giving mabena🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮

Like, what do you mean You don't have a backup plan, an exit plan for when you are finally fed up with your dad, worse you are computer genius🙄✋🏾, like don't you have like a secret apartment somewhere, Stolen money, boma off shore acount, I mean you Clearly have the brains🚶🏾‍♀️‼️ Like a  USB stick that has all your father's dirty secrets that you can use to blackmail him.

my sister, the minute he let you fall down the stairs was the time you should have stepped in your villain era. Actually, the time he started pimping you out was the time you should have started plotting his death and all the old rubbish man who touched you!

Kamo wena moana, you decided to tail tristen to that casino. Firstly, that was very stupid because you didn't come up with a backup plan. Should he find out that you followed him.

Secondly, what was the actual reason for following him. I get you were trying to find dirty information to blackmail him into telling you about the alliance so you will know why he hates you, mara that plan was not well thought out cause you didn't get any useful info.

Also, you were under prepared cause what the heck were those
questions you asked in the meeting? they were fairly not specific.🙄🚮 Ande kamo, I don't see movement on the codes😤🙄 and that is the only reason im still reading.

I feel like the author didn't balance Moand out, like she tried making her an independent Smart girl mara. She missed the mark, hai

The book ended, and we still don't know who is behind the codes getting stolen, we still don't know the ndabas of the alliance, kuri nje hai

Despite there being some cringe-worthy romance novel cliches, this was a great book. Some of the scenes were fantastic. I was so excited for the second installation because I thought this couple was going somewhere. I was disappointed with that one, but I am trying to be fair in the review of the first book with the knowledge that the second book kind of let me down. I definitely think this one is worth the read, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for the Reaper.

This is like the mindfuck series + 365 days + insane tension and romance that had my heart palpitating + a man who is kind of scary and murders people but is also hot + trauma + suspense + crazy mob politics. I wish it weren’t in third person even though it was a very well written third person. I’m immediately starting the second one because I fear I absolutely loved this. If you hate it, that just means you’re normal 🩷
