I really liked the first half of this book. The second half was a bit too "action movie" for me, but still good. And I really don't understand how a
cancer patient actively undergoing chemo
was able to do all that, but good on em. The ending felt a bit rushed with a
happy little bow on everything.
And it really bugged me that
she might be pregnantbut yet no update on her cancer??

Wow. The Chain's being split into two parts is really telling. The first was dark, tense, and gripping; the second was simply bad. The premise introduces themes of family ties and perseverance in a way that's delightfully bleak and desperate, but all of it goes to waste as the story devolves to an unimaginative action flick. McKinty took a single strong idea and stretched it beyond recognition. Imagine Black Mirror's Shut Up and Dance if it were adapted into a 2 hour long Hollywood movie.

This book started out strong but quickly faded. There were too many plot holes, the writing style was confusing at times and by the end, when things were reaching the apex, I found myself scanning more than reading. Just not the book for me.

I liked it but I didn’t love it. The premise was great, it was dark and twisty and some elements I really enjoyed. The main characters were a bit cliche and annoying and the ending felt kind of rushed which is what stopped it being a 4.

OK... *inhale, exhale* ///pls excuse my extreme anger issues/// charot

THIS WAS SO DISAPPOINTING IN SO MANY LEVEL.
I couldn't get past 65% of the story. But still continue despite my utter disappointment to the story. I also found out that The Chain was a short story but the author made it a full-length novel which was a very bad move to make.
I feel like reading a story that was so bland and no turning point.
I can almost feel the frustration again just by writing this review for this book. I was so excited to read this book because this was picked as out BOTM. I'm so annoyed because I got the slump because of this book.
Back to the story, this was just unrealistic. The part where Rachel needed to send a HUGE amount of money and bitcoin? The federal should be following her solely because of her sending that huge amount of money in plain sight and in just one day. Ugh, second what the fuck... From the moment that new gf of her ex-husband show up , I immediately knew she was one of the brain of the chain. I just can't think of anything while reading this. I didn't connect with the characters. Even Kylie.
You know what I'm so angry at?
This book has made me so thrilled and I anticipate this book more than any of my TBRs last month.
I admit that the first part was good and exciting. But when the second part came in, I was forcing myself to just read the letters. I hated it. I hate how I hope for nth time that the book gets better. Huhu
I almost threw up because of how trash the entire writing was. It was my first time reading his book and this will be the last.
I am so sorry I can't take it anymore. My time was wasted. I just can't get through this story. Lol my time...
There are so many thriller out there please spare this one out
UGH

although i enjoyed reading this book, it was very predictable. most of the time i was unable to guess what was happening in the chapters and plot. this made it not as fun for me to read unfortunately!
