I watched the movie before I read the book. Afterwards it seemed very interesting, so I decided to give it a chance even when I mostly read bad reviews. This wasn't a book for me. The story line didn't grab me and the writing style wasn't catching my attention. There were some lovely parts but overall I didn't like it that much. The story itself was alright but felt a little cliche and rushed.

When it comes to YA books, the more paranormal, fantasy, romance there is, all the better. I can read all the same type of clichéd novels, and love them. With that being said, Fallen was one of the few exceptions. Aside from all the clichéd characters and events (which I can usually handle) it was Luce, the main character that really annoyed me. Her personality was so unlikeable, and even when I tried to continue the series, it was really her that made me give up. A shame to, because usually these books appeal to me, and the cover was beautiful. There was definitely potential, it just didn't work out.

Can i be totally honest?! i adore the cover but this book is depressing a lot of times. Lucas was avoiding her because he didn't want to lose her? gahhhhhhh! sighhhhh i give up. 3.5 stars

Read this book again to give it a try but i think i am going to give it 2 stars now because im nice and all. Time for an interview!

James: hi, i am james and i am your host for. "Let's interview rukky"
*audience claps* *Rukky walks in waving, hugs Daniel then sits*
James: so how was the fallen book? did you enjoy it?
Rukky: *laughs*
James: was is that interesting?
Rukky: *Stops* What?
James: excuse me? *smiles*
Rukky: Have you read the book?
james replies a no.
Rukky: Then don't. I felt my eyes ripping out of a socket. do you believe a book will do that to you? it was a stalkish romance story that made me want to cry alone.
jame: Ohhh *shocked* why did you read it then?
Rukky: i was on punishment during the entire book
James: my question was why did you pick up the book?
Rukky: Ohhh my bad, the cover was pretty!
James: what character did you hate and love?
Rukky: hate is a strong word lol. more like wanted to strangle to death. it was Luce! Gosh! Dont get me wrong i love the fallen angel type of books but this was threw me away from that.
James: thank you for your time

I was drawn to read this book from the beautiful cover and its prominence on YA bookshelves. The book is about Luce, a girl who is sent to a youth reform school following an unfortunate incident at her last school. Luce is soon taken under her wing by several of the other pupils and two potential love interests spark her interest, although she can’t shake the feeling that one of them, Daniel she already knows.
For me, this book was OK, and if anything I was a little disappointed that it seemed to draw out the story until the last 100 pages, by which point, I was kind of in a hurry to get to the end of it so I can make a start on my ‘to-read’ bookshelf! However, these last pages really saved the book and triggered my interest in reading the follow up, Torment.
My problem with this book, is that I felt we were introduced to lots of different characters, Molly, Gabbe, Cam, Daniel, Penn but with little context and impact on the story until the end, so I felt little affinity with the characters and felt their relationships were very superficial. I felt that I should have connected with Penn more that I did, as the book is written from Luce’s point of view, more reference could have been made to the importance of their friendship. For me, Luce felt that Penn was ‘safe’ in this strange new environment and that was what she was clinging to.
My next issue with the book was that it took over 300 pages to make any reference to angels within the book. I had guessed or assumed from the title, front cover and blurb that the book was about angels, so was frustrated that it took soooo long to make reference to for me, an obvious plot line in the story.
I liked the general story line of the book, but left wanting more than I got from the book. I wanted more interaction between the characters, especially key people such as Arianne, Gabbe, Cam and Daniel. As it is told from only Luce’s POV I felt it lacked depth of relationships between the key players which would have helped bring the end of the book together with more clarity. I also liked learning about the history of angels but things were only hinted at rather than clarified, and as I was under the impression the books were about angels, I was expecting and wanted more on this realm.
Kate left us with several unanswered questions which should motivate me to read the next book in the series, Torment, but I don’t think the book was face paced or detailed enough for me to rush out and get it, which is a shame! A promising story line, but it lacked depth and scope to really hold my interest.

Book number thirteen of my Summer 2016 #nobookleftunfinished reading challenge. Started to read this book two years ago, only got 70 pages in. Maybe now is the time for it.

Ugh.

I so did not like this book, I should have wasted my poor money on something else. Basically everything that's wrong with this book (and especially Luce, the main character) is already been said in other reviews. Luce does not have any self-respect,falls in love with some idiotic hot guy who does not have any character depth. We only learn he's hot, likes himself a lot, is hot and knows he's hot. This kind of guys are not worthy of falling in love (wich is by the way the title of another book in this stupid series! Great title, such creativity!)With every action that Luce takes I found myself asking: 'really? Why are you doing that?' I do not understand her or this book and I'm so not going to read the other books in the series. (Who needs a series of this anyway? Let alone a flippin' movie!)
