I'm not sure what possessed me to read this book, aside from curiosity and an affection for legal and courtroom dramas. And the appeal of a quick YA type read.
The one star is for the author's adept interjection of explanatory information about a variety of aspects of the legal and criminal justice system.
The lack of any additional stars is due to 1) the tedious sexism and misogyny and 2) the lack of a truly satisfying conclusion to the story. Now you might think, okay, a 13-year-old boy (the main character) may or may not be much of a feminist, but the author ought to have done a better job of considering a reasonable way to portray girls and women in this book. Truly disappointing.

I love John Grisham and this is the perfect YA intro to the law-type books he writes. Theodore Boone is a kid whose parents are both lawyers and he also wants to be a lawyer when he grows up. There's a bit of mystery in this and definitely made me want to keep reading to see what happened at the end. Way to go John Grisham. You hit another one out of the ball park!
I enjoyed this book. I think it is a great series for younger kids to read to get them into mystery type books but more so law books.
Interesting enough, and leaves you on a cliffhanger that might be enough to make me read the second one, but overall it felt like an author who is used to working adult books trying to write for a younger audience. And I'm not sure that was entirely successful.
This book has been one of my favorites since I was in middle school. It is definitely a children's book, but it discusses a murder trial that is intriguing. This book leaves you on a slight cliffhanger. Do not expect to be able to just stop at this book. You will need the whole series!

This was a fun children’s story. There were quite of few things that weren’t explained or concluded at the end. Oh well
I like Grishams adult books and I had high hopes for this one, but was pretty disappointed.
The book, at 260+ pages seemed to drag. It gave great background on legal terms and practices, but there was very little to keep me engrossed, other than the accomplishment of finishing the novel.
