horrifying but stunning. such a unique voice and it works. fascinated with morality in a way that gives me a little existential crisis in our current world. I love the simple way it plays with form and the man and the boy are almost the perfect figures for this kind of tragedy and capture the horrors of practicality and reality and helplessness so well

maybe 3,5? i think the biggest issue was that my expectations were a little too high. i adored the setting, the atmosphere, the relationship between the father and son. however, it did get repetitive at times and while i enjoy a quiet, slow story where not a lot happens, the monotony was a bit of a mood killer here. then again, i suppose monotony is kind of a given in an apocalypse - and i did finish the book in one sitting ! so there's that

I listened to the audiobook. It's a quick listen/read and believe the reason I kept coming back is because of the times we're living in at the moment. Post-apocalyptica is on the mind of many these days. I'm also a mom. This story resonates in so many ways.
