When Mac's older sister Alina is found brutally murdered in an alley in Dublin, Mac leaves Georgia to investigate for herself especially since Interpol and the local police are marking it as a random act of violence.
Mac is in for a shock upon arriving in Ireland. She begins to see monsters, feels followed and quickly discovers that Alina wasnt the sister she knew here in Dublin; she missed classes, was dating an older man and seemed to be involved in the underground with mobsters.
To find who killed Alina, Mac teams up with Jericho Barrons and gets a training on the world of Faes.

This charming book told in First Person Point of View was a delight to read. The suspense was killing and being in Macs head was amazing. I have a feeling she and I would make great friends.

Didn’t really care for the writing style and I didn’t like the main character that much. I don’t think I’ll be continuing on!

this was soooo fun omg... so many 2000s vibes, fun plot, reminded me why urban fantasy romance is the BEST subgenre ever, and introduced me to a fun new world! i loved the setting, the vibes, and the overall mythical aspect! the FMC was very much your classic "girly girl" and emphasized that a lot (not horrible just bothered me at times), and i really wanted jericho to be more fleshed out! def continuing with the series!

Completing a re-read of this book, though this time I’m doing the audiobook. I don’t love the narrator, but I appreciate the pronunciation of all the difficult fae/Gaelic words. I also realized that I never gave Mac a southern accent in my head, and it changed her dynamic for me (in a positive way, I believe). I fiercely loved this series when I was younger and I’m curious to see how it holds up. The first book is a little slow, and Mac is a tough sell. I forgot so much that many of the revelations felt brand new for me. I immediately jumped into the second book after completing this one.

4th Re-read

Jericho is such a dumb name
