This was a fun, easy read that I could've FLOWN through if it wasn't my book club's pick. Unique magic system. An enemies to lovers where the enemies debate their positions in interesting ways that flesh them out more. And swoony, too! Looking forward to book 2.

I loved this book from start to finish. The world building is great. I enjoyed the writing as well. The author uses a lot of vivid analogies that help you picture the feelings of the characters or to prove a point. There were many great moments of foreshadowing that I picked up on as the story unfolded. Many of them were subtle, making the reader question how important those details truly were to the overall plot. The ending wrapped up nicely for a duology with one storyline closing as another one opened. It left me excited to pick up Rebel Witch to see where it will pick up.

I ate this up fr omg so good. LOVED the tension by two people “faking it” but not knowing the other is too and then wondering if it’s all real for them and ugh so good. 
Also the magic system seems interesting and I’m excited to learn more as we go along, but the world building foundations were engaging. 
The plot twist got heavily hinted towards at the end, so much so that I was getting annoyed at the dumb characters not figuring it out. Bc if this there was also some miscommunication that was also mildly infuriating, but other than that it was great.

Thank you PRH Audio for the gifted audiobook. 

What it's about:

Rune is a witch hiding in plain sight as The Crimson Moth. She rescues witches that are being put to death.

Gideon is a witch hunter who's been hunting down The Crimson Moth for years. Both decide to use each other to help their own causes.

What I thought:

I loved this book! The tension was excellent, and I loved the enemies to lovers aspect. l also appreciated the friendship between Rune and Gideon's brother Alex.
