My biggest complaint that these are too short! I wish they were longer.

Still enjoying this series, as Echo continues navigating her life in the present with her cultural history from the past. I still wish there was more time spent on Echo in the present so I hope hopeful that the conclusion gives more insight.

These were interesting as I know nothing about Canadian history, however, I'm sure if this was about American history I wouldn't know much about this piece of history anyways

2020 Review:

Katherena Vermette is an author I always enjoy, and A Girl Called Echo is just such a truly wonderful series. Getting to learn alongside Echo, both in her everyday life and in her time travel Metis history adventures, is moving, entertaining, and enlightening. Henderson's art and Yaciuk's colours really help bring it all together. I loved the new family history she got at the end the end of the story. The information included at the back was as interesting and informative as ever.

This is another fantastic entry to a fantastic series. I can't wait to see where it goes next.

Echo's mom comes home! And now when Echo travels, she's years further along - the friend she made last time is now an adult man with a kid her age. Every time she travels, there's incredible conflict and suffering and war. It's very obviously painful and scary for her. At the end, her mom hands her a genealogy chart...and, you guessed it,
she's been visiting her ancestors. So very cool!

4 stars.

I really loved this installment of the series. I've said it every time, but the art in this series is so stunning. My heart breaks a lot for Echo and the pain she feels as she learns the history of her people. It hurts seeing how heartbroken she is and how she can't change the effects of what happened and can only watch. The twist at realizing Benjamin and Josephine are her ancestors wasn't one that I was expecting but I loved! I always wondered how they seemed to notice and interact with her differently than the others of the past and that explains it. I believe that the next volume is the final one of the series, which makes me a bit sad but I'm interested in seeing how the series wraps up.
