Wow! This one was surprising, especially with how long it was. I don’t tend to read long books, but I was intrigued. I’m not gonna lie, the first 50% was way to freaking long, took me twice as long as the end half. However, the found & real family was adorable. Everyone so supportive and nice, there wasn’t any cattiness or pettiness. You felt the love between Julien & Isaac.

I also really appreciated how emotions and mental health were handled. Men were aloud to feel things other than anger, help was recommended and pursued. Victims were believed and backed, something uncommon in this world. Overall, great story.

P.S Our Julien has insane undiagnosed ADHD. It’s adorable how everyone accommodates him without really trying. Also, the way Isaac calms him is sweet.

Way too long, way too introspective, way too much sex (weirdly enough), way too much of switching POV and rehashing what you just read. Boring as hell the first literal half and then didn't really get all that interesting from there. I skimmed the back half just to see the end tbh.

FORMAT: Audio

ENTERTAINMENT VALUE: 4.25 / 5
TECHNICAL / PRODUCTION: 4 / 5
FINAL – OVERALL: 4 / 5

As long as you pay attention to the content warnings, this is one of my favorites. Raw, honest, friendship, growth, kink, communication, just all the things. This was a reread and it was just as good as the previous reads.

Absolutely amazing still. Didn't like the narrator's accent, but it didn't ruin anything for me, it just didn't add what an accent is supposed to add, I guess.

I love this. On to the next one!

Don't listen to me, I'm cranky.

I was super enjoying this until we got to the first sex scene, and then it just fell off a cliff. I'm all for subverting stereotypical expectations, but I like it a lot less when it feels like a bait & switch. I honestly felt like I was reading entirely different characters--their entire dynamic/interplay/banter etc. totally changed, and it felt really off-putting and bizarre. I am, once again, in the minority here, and maybe it's just this one first sex scene that's very weird, but I didn't find it particularly hot, and I'm pretty sure this is just not the book I wanted to be reading. But like I said, I'm in a mood and everybody else who's read this so far seems to think it's the best thing since sliced bread, so YMMV.
