oh noooo i never reviewed this. holly jackson is a fave author and i was highly anticipating this book. it definitely lived up to the hype. i was captivated by the mystery and devoured this book so quickly so i didn't even have time to guess any of the twists and turns. some may be predictable, but i enjoyed the ride thoroughly.

📚 In August our bookclub dives into thrillers, and The Reappearance of Rachel Price was my perfect pick.

5/5 ⭐

Holly Jackson proves once again why she’s one of my go-to thriller authors. This book had everything I look for in the genre: clever plotting, twists that genuinely surprised me, and an atmosphere that kept me on edge throughout.

The characters were layered and flawed in a way that made the story feel all the more real. I especially appreciated how every reveal shifted my perspective, making me doubt who I could trust. The pacing was excellent, never dragging, and always pushing me to keep turning the pages.

While I still hold A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder closest to my heart, this was another addictive read that perfectly matched our August theme.

This book was SO good! There were so many times that I was annoyed at having to put it down to less important things like eat and go to the bathroom. Lots of twists and turns, some I saw coming, but most I did not. I could feel my heart pounding during really intense moments- better than any movie could do! A touch of PG romance gave some relief among all the intensity of the mysteries. The only reason I gave this four stars was because Jackson’s editor should have encouraged her to come up with some synonyms for “hiss”. Maybe it was intentional on Jackson’s part, but it seemed way too frequent for my liking. Grades 7 and up.

I like Holly Jackson's ideas and she can't be accused of writing predictable and boring stories, but I think I should wait a while to read another of her books because the flaws in her works (so much suspension of disbelief, so wordy with constant repeating of inner monologue) are starting to annoy me a bit more with each one.
