Brad Thor

3.7 AVERAGE

My first and last Brad Thor book… this guy takes forever to get to the point.

This was my first Brad Thor book and I instantly fell in love with it. I particularly liked how this story weaved through various parts of the world in snow capped mountains, through Europe, and through Washington. Great adventurous novel with a lot of mystery and intrigue.

This first book in the Scot Harvath series by Brad Thor is a suspenseful spy thriller about the kidnapping of the president of the United States. Harvath, the main character, is a secret service agent who feels responsible and decides to strike out on his own to get the president back. There are many exciting chase scenes and Thor puts a lot of great plot twists into the story. Overall I found it very enjoyable, although Thor does have some slightly irritating writing quirks. However, for a first novel these were not too frequent or problematic, and overall I greatly enjoyed it. I've already bought the next two.

Very nice change of pace. A mixture of James Rollins with some historical information and Jason Bourne. Really liked the characters and thought the story was awesome. I couldn't put it down!

Good police-type thriller. Some writing quirks that I'm find a bit annoying -- but not annoying enough to stop reading the author! Really like Scot Horvath character.

Fun read, will continue the series. 2 stars because author did not research Mormonism thoroughly. Mormons love their chocolate and can consume caffeine. We also do not have 5 hours of church every Sunday.

I enjoyed the book for the first 1/2 and then it slowed down tremendously and I got a little bored. There were about 75-100 unnecessary pages and I found myself skimming. I rated it a 3 because I enjoyed more of the book than I skipped.

It’s an interesting story with a lot of action. Scot Harvath can be frustrating because he is very stubborn and doesn’t think he needs to listen to others but over all a good, relatable character. I’ll give the next book a chance. But not right away.
