It's a struggle for me to find the words to describe something like this.
I don't normally read poetry, but that's exactly what this is. It is a novel told in verse, as poetry.
It's the queer, coming of age, story of Geryon, a "monster" who looks like a human, but with the addition of red wings (literally he has wings on his back).
It tells the story of him coming to terms with what and who he is, and about how he views the world through the lens of his camera.
I'm sorry, I don't really have the words. It's so beautifully written. The characters are wonderful and so heart-achingly real.
While it is short, if you decide to read this, please, take your time and indulge in dissecting the prose, re-read its lines, re-examine it's phrases and look deeper.

I'm infatuated with this book to the extent that I'm going to start making everyone I know read it. I just retread it for the third time in a month. It's exquisitely beautiful, thought-provoking, funny, sad, and did I say beautiful? It goes on my all-time-best-ever list. Please, please, friends, will you read it, so we can talk about it?

This book sticks with you. It changed the way I view poetry and the concept of myth retelling, with complex original characters you can't help but love even when the universe keeps spelling out their inevitable fate

« It was the hour when snow goes blue and streetlights come on and a hare may pause on the tree line as still as a word in a book. »
