I enjoyed this book more toward the end!
I thought Amy would be more mature/less squeamish for being a medical student. A medical student that almost passes out at the smell of blood? Maybe not in the right profession. Also she got so wrapped up in the different psych patient’s paranoia/delusions. Seems like that’s inpatient psychiatry 101 not to do that.
That being said this was a fun, surprising lighthearted read (given the topic). Almost felt like a YA book tbh which was a nice change.

"How does somebody get to the point where their brain stops functioning like a normal brain? That their reality completely breaks from the reality that every other person in the world lives in? And what’s to stop it from happening to anyone else?"

This one was definitely creepy as fuck.
[b:Ward D|214298301|Ward D|Freida McFadden|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1725682420l/214298301._SY75_.jpg|144502842] didn't start with eerie feeling, in fact.. it was a perfectly normal book with normal main character (Amy Brenner). But the more you read it, the creepy feeling settles in.
No kidding. I'm more scared with "crazy" and dangerous people in the psych ward than ghost or entities.
The fact that book is slightly based on Freida's experience as a medical student when she was on-call on psych ward is making me anxious. So, this one was a good one.
