This book was a good overall introduction to the concept of side hustles. I felt however, that it would be most helpful if someone already has an idea (or ideas) for a potential side hustle, as I didn't feel that the chapter on generating ideas was as useful as the implementation chapters. I would have preferred more information and examples regarding idea generation, as I don't feel that I'm the most creative person when it comes to figuring out what a feasible side hustle might be. If someone already has ideas though, and just needs some basic direction in order to get up and running quickly, this book could be really beneficial!

If you are interested in starting a income-generating side project, this is a good book to read. For those who are new to Chris Guillebeau and "side hustles," the info will be fresh and new. This isn't your typical business productivity book or even your typical business entrepreneurship book. The advice isn't to get an MBA or to start out thinking venture capital, 6 figures, large staffs. Instead, Chris encourages potential side hustlers to start now, before you're 100% ready. He often says inspiration is good; inspiration + action is so much better.

I will admit that I've listened to his podcast of the same name since Day One. I've had a side hustle for a couple of years and would like to expand it. In the podcast and in the book, Chris gives you examples to learn from - real people who started small. Some make it big; some just generate a regular side income they can put towards extras. Everyone benefits from the effort, though.

If you also listen to the podcast, the first quarter of the book might be a little repetitive from what you've heard. The examples are all ones you hear him describe on air. But the steps are much more laid out in the book than in podcast. Chris is very concrete and suggests tools and ideas along the way. The book is not designed to make you a millionaire tomorrow; it is designed to get you thinking and, most of all, starting with your idea. Chris considers a lot of the things you'll have to consider and he gives lots of ideas for systematizing your efforts.

I was provided an advanced reader copy with the request that I would review the book. The review is my own and reflects my honest opinion.

I was hoping for a book that went into a little more depth on how to do something you're passionate about as a side hustle, rather than "how to just make extra money in your spare time." This book is all about finding something, anything, not necessarily something you're passionate about, to add a secondary source of revenue. And that's fine for some people but I was really looking for tips and advice about how to turn a serious hobby or interest into a secondary business and/or how to make money on the side from your passion projects. Still, if you're looking to make extra money any way possible, this is a decent basic book to help you figure out how to do that.

Really good book with an actual plan to develop a side hustle. The book covers everything from coming up with ideas to getting started. Personally, I'm more of an entrepreneur than someone looking for a side hustle, but this book still had a ton of value. I highly recommend it if you're like the millions of people out there who could use a little extra cash. That's how I started, and now I have income streams that help me pay my bills and support my son now that I've become a brand.

just the kick in the pants you need to get your side hustle started! this 27 day program mirrors Chris' podcast in a few ways as it introduces you to stories about side hustlers as how they got started. but it also breaks down the process into very concrete and small, manageable daily steps, starting from the very first one: figure out why you want a side hustle. without a clear goal in mind, what's going to keep you going? If you've thought of a side hustle as a way to earn extra income (I have), and want someone to take your hand and lead you through the process, this is a GREAT book. looking forward to launching my own hustle here shortly!

3.5 stars. May seem like simple information or common sense to some, but valuable advice/instructions for this not business-minded librarian that wants to make some extra cash.

A solid toolkit for side hustlers, but if you’ve read any of his other books there’s not much new information here. Primary takeaway: focus on scalability and market-fit — making a small side business has a very low barrier to entry, but need to iron out those two points.

It doesn’t really provide any unique insights nor provide any new thoughts on how to get started on a side hustle. Literally could’ve been a short listicle.
