I fell in love with the cover of Single and Ready to Jingle by Piper Rayne, and I've liked some of their other books, so getting this was a no-brainer for me. Mackenzie was a party planner running late for a blind date. She didn’t have the guy’s number, so instead of running home and changing and showing up super late, she met the man for dinner still in her elf costume, complete with bells on her shoes. Andrew is a handsome British lawyer who hates Christmas, so when Kenzie showed up in an elf costume, Andrew was mortified, and he made his distaste abundantly clear.

They soon realize that he is her brother’s best friend, so it’s lucky that the Christmas-loving Kenzie and the scrooge totally didn’t hit it off.
“Kenzie and I could not be more different or ill-suited for one another, not to mention the issue of her being the baby sister of my best mate.”

Yet afterwards they still  kept thinking about the other, despite the first date disaster. So when Andrew’s law firm desperately needed a party planner for the Christmas party, Andrew suggested Mackenzie. She refused to help until he gave her a chance to change his mind about Christmas by doing three Christmas activities with her.
“Me being attracted to Andrew would be akin to Mrs. Claus having an affair with the Grinch.”

Despite Andrew having a good reason for not liking Christmas, I never fully got over the first meeting, even though I loved his gentlemanly behavior. The end felt rushed and a bit unsatisfactory to me, but I still enjoyed the story overall.

Likes:

  • •I loved Kenzie and her sunshiny disposition.

  • •Andrew was so chivalrous and thoughtful.

  • •They both had pretty deep back stories.

  • •Good character growth.

  • •The way Andrew helped her speak up for herself more.

Dislikes:

  • •Some repetitive scenes.

  • •The ending felt rushed.

  • •The 3rd act conflict and resolution.

  • •Andrew never won me over 100%. I hated how he treated people.

The Narration:

I love CJ Bloom, and she played the bubbly, Christmas loving Kenzie perfectly. John Lane was great as the snobby English lawyer especially at first.

The Down & Dirty:

Single and Ready to Jingle by Piper Rayne didn’t really stand out to me as very unique, but I appreciated that it was 100% a Christmas story, it doesn’t just happen to be Christmastime. At times I really enjoyed the book but I never 100% felt the chemistry between them, and he never totally won me over. It was still worth the credit for me, but I don’t think this will be an annual reread.

Rating: 3.75 Stars, 3.75 heat, 4.5 Narration

This book was the perfect fluffy, spicy Christmas romance. I loved the banter between Kenzie and Andrew and there meet cute was adorable! I do wish we got a little bit more closure between Kenzie and her parents but otherwise loved this one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Andrew hates Christmas so he thinks nothing can be worse than his blind date showing up dressed as an elf. That is until he realizes that his blind date is, in fact, his best friend's sister. Even worse than that, she storms out and the next day he realizes he needs her help. To improve his chances of becoming a partner at his firm he needs to help with the Christmas party and the only event planner he knows is Kenzie, the aforementioned best friend's sister who shows up to dates dressed as an elf. She agrees to help him but on one condition. She wants to show him how magical Christmas can be.

Andrew and Kenzie have both had bad experiences with relationships in the past and I really enjoyed watching them learn to trust each other despite their reluctance to trust. I always like it when an attraction can't be denied even when two personalities clash. I liked that Andrew was attracted to Kenzie before he started to fall for her. It made the eventual spicy scenes much more satisfying as we knew both characters had been wanting each other for a long time.

The only thing that didn't work for me about Single and Ready to Jingle was that I felt like Andrew made all the compromises and changes to make the relationship work. They both had insecurities but he overcame his, while Kenzie did not. I would have liked to see her change as a result of their relationship too.

I recommend this one for readers who are looking for a spicy Christmas read with a New York setting and the grumpy sunshine trope. I listened to the audiobook version of this title and really enjoyed it! It is dual narration and CJ Bloom reads all the female lines and POV while John Lane does the same for the male POV. I enjoyed both narrators and I have enjoyed other titles narrated by CJ Bloom. Audiobook listeners may recognize her from The Graham Effect most recently.

Rounding up from 3.5 stars

This is about Kenzie & Andrew who met up on a date from a dating app that ends up not going well. It's also turns out that Andrew is Kenzie's brothers best friend who she has never met. He's also a total scrooge and she happens to LOVE Christmas. He ends up needing her help planning his office holiday party. But the only way she would agree to do it is if he let her take him on 3 different outings to change his mind about Christmas.

They were cute together and complemented each other well. Andrew was super supportive of Kenzie and her goals. I do think she deserved for him to grovel just a little more in the end than he did. And the ending felt a little rushed. But over all, it was a cute, quick holiday read.

“In the short time I’ve know you, you’ve made me feel a way I didn’t think was possible”

Blind dates don’t always go to plan but this was possibly the worst Kenzie has ever been on. It doesn’t help that she turned up dressed like an elf and yet she can’t get his British accent out of her head. Or how damn handsome he was.

Turns out he’s also my brothers best friend, along with being the grumpiest man alive whole hates Christmas and wrong for Kenzie for so many reasons. So when he calls out of the blue for help planning his firms holiday party she can’t pass it up.

Their deal includes him attending three holiday events with her so she can make him fall in love with Christmas. It’s not before they really get to know one another and the reason he hates Christmas. And then she realises that she’s fallen for the grinch who stole her heart.

This was super cute, enemies to lovers, brothers best friend, grumpy sunshine holiday romance. It doesn’t jump out as one of my faves but was still a super cute read. The accent always gets me.

Side note I need someone to write the female who hated Christmas and the male who loves it just to change it up a little.
