Well written and interesting story. Gloomy WWI setting with some magical realism sprinkled throughout. I started to lose interest and felt like it dragged around half way. Everything just felt ‘flat’. The drama, the climax, the characters … all felt very flat and 2D.

Ghost stories are one of my absolute favorite types of stories. They’re wonderful ways to explore life, loss, memory, love, and grief. The Warm Hands of Ghosts was just that. I am having so many feelings about this book (the ending especially) and I’m so glad I stayed up late to finish it. These characters are going to stay with me for a long time.

This was such a genuinely beautiful novel, truly an emotional experience from beginning to end. The story depicted such a haunting narrative centered around grief and the horrors of war, and what all of that can do to a person once they're driven to the point of thinking the world is ending and that there is no hope remaining for them. Arden's fantastical twist on WWI worked well to drive home just how horrifying these years truly were as well. Not only was the realistic side of the war disturbing to read, but this twist added a whole other source of discomfort on top of it all.

I also adored how in the midst of everyone struggling with their own personal traumas, there was also an overarching theme of intense love between many characters, in many different forms as well. Seeing this book have a hopeful ending was nice as well, even if it was bittersweet in a sense, especially thinking back on the fate of one specific character.

While I still prefer The Winternight Trilogy, due to them already being favorite books of mine, this was still such a great read, and one I would easily recommend to others. I imagine this will be a book that sticks with me for a long time.
