I am convinced that in order to continue the Buffy canon, we have to find a perfect balance with the current Buffy canon. Unfortunately, we haven't reached a proper point with any of the current novels where that's possible. Personally, I wasn't a fan of how certain OG Buffy characters were handled, like Willow and Oz. Additionally, I wanted more from Frankie, since this ultimately is HER story.

I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own.

I feel like this would have hit more for me if I watched Buffy growing up, but unfortunately I didn’t. That being said, I didn’t hate it. It’s 3 stars for me just because I wasn’t invested, but I do think that it was a well-written and entertaining book!

I liked this book and felt it had some of the classic Buffy charm but I also felt it was missing something.

The teens were a bit shunted at times in their interactions with each other. The handling of the only LGBTQ+ character (Willow) was a bit shoddy.

Overall I enjoyed it but parts felt a bit rushed.

Did not like that is basically a reset. And main slayer character is overpowered.

I just couldn't get past some of the plot points at the beginning. I just couldn't suspend disbelief.

This was a fun return to the Buffyverse! I loved catching up with some of the characters. It was a bit too campy for my taste. I didn’t love the explanation for how Frankie was “conceived”. I also felt the menstrual jokes where childish and unnecessary. While some parts of In Every Generation were eyeroll cringey, I did enjoy the mystery of the story line. It’s that mystery that will get me to pick up the second book.
