extremely fast read - much like a short story. Nice story of the bond of friendship and how much it means to have someone who believes in you.

I read this book purely for the nostalgic feeling. I loved Aquamarine, the movie, as a child, and I thought finally reading the book would make me happy. It did, but I also realized that for once, the movie was better than the book! However, it was 25 minutes well spent.

"This wide-eyed, magical tale by distinguished author Alice Hoffman reflects the pale blue hue of two 12-year-old friends about to be parted at summer's end."
The first sentence in the description blurb is better written than the book. The book is unremarkable. It is also short, hence its read status on my list.
That is what I get for reading a book for a color reading challenge.

Such a cute story!
It’s nothing like the movie if that’s what you were hoping, but it’s still a fun and wholesome read!
The Aquamarine in this story is more realistic than the perfect and always positive character in the movie, but I still love both.
This was a such a quick read, perfect for the summer!

This was a movie, eh? Huh! I didn't know that, not that it wouldn't obviously make a decent YA flick. I picked this up blindly from the library since randomly finding mermaids can lead to an interesting day for a character.
Nice, short tale (tail) about two young ladies about to be separated by the most devastating event - one girl is moving away. Then they find a mermaid, and must find a way for her to meet the land-bound boy of her dreams and yet get her back to her home before she crumbles to dust.
Sure, finding the mermaid distracts them from their main problem, but the point is that they find that the mermaid changes them both for the better (d'aw, there's a lesson here somewhere!).
