I’m re-reading the whole series, and book one lived up to what I remember! A classic graphic novel series with stellar storytelling that I think everyone should read. 4 ⭐️

1 book down, like... 8 more to go.
So far what I get is charming and entertaining. I'm still waiting for it to turn into the cult phenomenon I'm hearing it is.

The Bone cousins are cute and funny while at the same time show much more depth than you would expect from such cartoonish characters. The Rat Creatures can be scary and comical at the same time. Gran'ma Ben and Lucius are wise and harboring serious secrets (and funny, too!). This story is such a great balance of light-hearted humor and seriously complex plots.

I remember reading it when the issues first came out back in the early 90s and the bi-monthly releases coupled with the fact that it was often longer than than before I got my hands on the next issue made me forget about the story. I'm glad my library has the series collected in graphic novels. It's like meeting up with old friends and learning all the great things they did with their lives.

Nothing like childhood nostalgia!! I remember reading this in my elementary school library. I am so excited to read the rest of the series
