Michelle Heard definitely knows how to write cringey scenes and characters that’s for sure lmao. But thankfully it wasn’t as bad as the first book.
I loved Abigail, I was very eager to read about her story with Nikolai from the first book already and honestly I’m not disappointed. I fucking loved Nikolai as well.

All my love to Alek as well, I’ll excited to know bout him and his history. I enjoyed the friendship between Alek and Abby, it could’ve been more developed especially by the end, it’s too bad we don’t hear from him.

Beautifully EPIC!!

This book is STUNNING ! I have been waiting for Nikolai and Abigail’s story and this book met all my expectations and more. From the very beginning it consumed me. I really enjoyed Abigail’s flirty and sassy nature and Nikolai’s personality and possessiveness. Together these two are so freaking hot and passionate. Their story is heart-gripping, heart-shattering and heart-melting., a triple threat straight to our hearts. I really loved this story … it’s BREATHTAKING.
This whole series has been addicting and I can’t get enough of it.
Congratulations Michelle, you killed it with Nikolai and Abigail’s story.

Was it a stellar book? No. Did I still love it? Yep!

• student x instructor
• mafia families but light mafia within main story
• sassy fmc
• serious mmc
• tattooed mmc
• fmc gets hurt
• mmc helps fmc
• found family
(see very bottom of important tw)

I love a good instructor/student relationship in romance books and I think this one did it well with the opposites attract between Abbie and Nikolai.

At first I didn’t think I would like Abbie because she seemed flighty and almost ditzy. But as you read more you realize she’s been completely, emotionally neglected by her family and she’s being forced into a way of life that is truly not for her.

I liked how she was a spitfire to Nikolai and she wasn’t afraid to make it known how much she hated being at the “school” and all the training. I’ve read a lot of Michelle Heard’s books within this universe and while I love a good badass FMC, it was actually kind of refreshing to have one that really did not want this life and expressed that.

I hadn’t read the book before this with Abbie’s friend and these two definitely overlap with timeline but since her friend’s story is just a side plot in this book, it really didn’t make this one confusing.

As for Nikolai, I loved him. He was annoyed with Abbie because she wouldn’t stop talking and wouldn’t stop being stubborn and sassy. But I love how her personality worn him down and he came to love her fire and bluntness.

The “event” that took place half way through broke my heart because how much Abbie retreated into herself and lost a part of her. I loved how she didn’t have to deal with it alone for long though, first opening up to a friend and then slowly letting Nikolai back in.

The way Nikolai knew something was wrong immediately and how he helped her come back into herself and love her body again was so sweet in my opinion. I also absolutely adored how he helped bring out her “brightness” again with her painting. He didn’t “fix” her; he just loved and supported her and held her tight as she put herself back together again.

Lastly, I loved the found family Abbie got through Nikolai’s family. That’s the family she should have always had because it’s what she deserves.

The chemistry and spice between Abbie and Nikolai was great and I really enjoyed how they played off each other with kinks.

This definitely won’t be for everyone but I recommend to anyone who likes age gaps, taboo relationship, light mafia, and he helps heal her tropes.
