Wow, the story was kinda not what I was expecting. It was tough, real tough. So so so many trigger warnings. A lot of sh*t is going on in this story - mentally and physically. Both guys have so much baggage and I love how they found their safe place in each other. But the things they had to go through do catch up to them … Alain’s parents are horrible, but probably a kinda realistic representation of overly religious, almost fanatical people. The way they treated their son is .. just no.. Hayden also went through so much, I don’t know how he did it. Their character development was good, though I feel there were some discrepancies, especially with Alain and his religious beliefs. The art style is nice, but sometimes there were some panels were too much was going on for this kind of story. The one thing that felt odd to me, and that might be just me not really reading the synopsis, was the fact, that the story played in the US with Americans as protagonists. Sure, manga does not need to be confined in Japanese settings, but it took a bit of getting used to at the beginning. I would recommend this volume, BUT you need to check the trigger warnings. Because there is a lot of triggering stuff going on.
