Super strong opening to this book in not the best way. I will save you from the uncomfortable NSFW details, but personally I was not dying to get back to this book when I put it down. There is also a bit of stockholm syndrome going on, but its slightly justified, and goes both ways somehow? I should probably stop reading re-tellings of already made stories, because I'm thinking I just don't get it.

This book didn't really get interesting until the FMC showed some wit and strength (which was about half-way through the book) and (of course) when the dark, and dangerous male character showed up and twisted everything the FMC knew about life (at the literal end of the book). A well used trope in fantasy, but a good one, so if its not broke dont fix it or however that saying goes.

I am interested enough in the next book after the cliffhanger in this book, so hopefully it is more interesting than this one.

couldn’t put it down, this authors writing is phenomenal

I think it had a bit of a slow start, but really picked up in the second half! I am really anxious to get more back story about Auren and her childhood/how she was made.

Audiobook version significantly better vs. reading. In my opinion. Tried reading this book last year, and it bored me out of my mind.

I'm interested in Commander Rip. Like, who are you? I need a background on him asap. Also, I still believe Digby is alive. No body, no death.
