It’s not a 5 because I desperately want to know more about the magic and the world the women belong to, but I also begrudgingly accept that the fact we don’t know more is kind of the point; it’s left foggy n hazy because truth is unreliable n unattainable. The discussion surrounding trauma and how it shapes perceptions of ourselves and others as we grow also rly slaps.

Lettie has weird quirky 11yo girl who’s into collecting colourful sand vibes and I love her for it.

I found this interesting. The characters themselves weren't engaging but the overall atmosphere and plot interesting. Liked the concept as a whole.

There is just something about Gaiman's writing that is an excellent blend of beautiful prose and 'wtf is going on?' - whatever it is, I found myself really loving this mysteriously magical story. The illustrated edition is gorgeous and adds just the right about of whimsy and darkness to enhance the story.

Listened to the audio book, which was narrated by Neil Gaiman and had a lovely interview with him at the end.
