I love this book so much!!!! I cried through the last quarter of it-- couldn't stop bawling. Can't wait to buy it!!

honestly, this book was not that interesting. It was childish, like maybe a book that a 6 grader would like.

I liked this book when I read it, and I was sad I didn't have a copy anymore when I heard about the author's death from pancreatic cancer (pancan.org). It's a nice tale (no pun intended!) though sometimes it veers into the predictable. I liked the bit with finding her mother's items under the floorboards--a treasure hunt is usually a good way to draw the reader in.

It's good for its audience--sometimes I felt too old to be reading it. I wish there could be more to the story, though. The author got to see her words in print, which is a beautiful thought. RIP, LK.

I received a digital copy of this book via Netgalley.

A good middle grade novel, but it's not my favorite book. I think it has a pacing issue.

The Story: A girl who has felt a deep connection with the sea finds herself restricted by her father's fear over a mysterious accident.
I am a big fan of mermaids, I always found them enthralling so I was very excited when I got this book.
But I must admit it was very clichéish at times.
The Mermaid's Mirror is a great book for sea lovers and it's about a girls decision. I had great fun reading it, although not a huge fan of how things ended up.
Complain: I did not believed how fast love developed between the main character and another character, but it was believable enough to make us want to read more.
Overall, the Mermaid's book was not a great book, but a good one and a quick, nice read. And I sure hope there's a sequel to wrap things up.

I loved this book when I was a teenager!

Cute story, that's about it. Nothing super special but nothing terrible either. It reminded me a lot of books I enjoyed when I was in fourth or fifth grade. Happy but slightly bittersweet. The family was a bit too perfect and the romance wasn't the best but it was a fun quick easy read.

Recommend? Not really.
Cover - I like it a lot, I think it fits the story nicely.

I was excited to read this and it started off pretty good. Madigan did a great job of setting up the story, however, after she found out she was a mermaid it was down hill from there on. I really couldn't believe it. Madigan took great care in crafting her characters above the water, but under the sea everyone and everything written felt forced and under developed. The mermaids seemed primative and unlikeable which is very dissappointing as a mermaid fan.

Too sad. You knoe how some people say there's a fine line between love and hate there's also between loss and tragedy this is way too sad it could lead you into a depression I might be over exaggerating and there were good parts to it but the endings is well theres really no other word for it tragic.

Quick Overview:

Lena, short for Selena, is about to turn 16 years old, begins to inexplicably wake up on the beach and looking for something she can't remember. One day she sees a mermaid and her search becomes more urgent.

-----------

This was a nice, light read. The first half tends to drag. There is a lot of focus on Lena's day to day life and certain things are revealed too early. However, Lena's quest remains compelling throughout. The second half picks up a lot and the world created is interesting. I wish there had been more time spent there. The ending is not what I would have expected, but in a good way.

Overall:
Perfect for when you want a light read with a little magic.
