Enjoyed this one far more than Divine Rivals. Glad I read the end of the duology, as for me this one worked far better than its predecessor.
Despite the second book picking up basically where the first book left off, both main characters felt far more mature and evolved. Their relationship and understanding of the world around them developed in a way that was more satisfying.
Additionally, we got a lot more detail around the war and the deities in a way that felt like it worked to nicely wrap up the story. This second book was full of a lot more pulse pounding action that was actually quite intense for a YA novel. It hooked me and I didn’t really want to stop reading until I got to the end of this one.

It’s been a long time since I’ve felt so deeply immersed into a story, a world so skillfully built by the author. The writing is exquisite, and I could see it unfolding vividly like a movie as I moved through the book. I’ll miss these characters, but I felt the ending did their story justice. Looking forward to reading more from Rebecca Ross!

What an excellent duology. I ended up liking the second book even better than the first. It expanded so much more on the gods and their lore, and the stakes were raised so high I thought my little heart might not be able to take it. Rebecca Ross honestly managed to surprise me in a really big way. I did not think she could win me over after I read and didn’t like A River Enchanted, but I am happy to say I was wrong.
