Review of Edge of Spider-Verse and Spider-Verse event
The Edge of Spider-Verse title brings together five Spiders from other dimensions and lays the foundation for them being pulled together in the cosmic event, Spider-Verse. We start with Spider-Noir, where Spider-Man fights crime in the 1930s. He is challenged by the magician Mysterio, who wants Spider-Man’s blood for the Anansi, the God of Spiders. Next, we travel to another realm where Gwen Stacy was bitten instead of Peter. Gwen is the prime suspect in the death of Peter Parker, and her father is leading the investigation! Next, we find ourselves with Aaron Aikman who has developed a mechanized spider-suit to compliment his powers. Then, we’re off to a world where an obsessive Peter is bitten by a spider and becomes a hellish version of the superhero we know and love. The last story is SP//dr, a symbiotic mecha warrior with a sentient spider and young girl.

I only read it for the introduction of Spider-Gwen. The rest was hit or miss. The first 3 were pretty cool, with Spider-Gwen being the best by far, but the fourth one was in poor taste. Didn't bother with the fifth.
So real ratings:
#1 - 3.5/5 Stars, very interesting but the blood was a bit much for me.
#2 - 5/5 Stars, very excellent, though I hope to get the full origin story with volume 1 which I will be reading in full :)
#3 - 4/5, very interesting, too bad there's no conclusion.
#4 - 0/5, not my kind of story. It was nauseating and just not what I want out of a comic at all.
#5 - N/A, didn't read.

These stories were seriously cool! especially the last two with the abusive uncle Ted and a semi-venom spiderman, and the cute little spider-robot?

The first issue's pretty fun, a short superhero story with pulp trappings. It's nothing special, but it does its job and is entertaining.
The second story, the Spider-Gwen story, is reason #1 to pick this up. Gwen's world is an interesting and entertaining one, and Rodriguez's art kills. (Also: I'm reading the Spider-Gwen ongoing, and I could kill for a Matt Murdock, Mob Lawyer spin-off).
The third issue, about Aaron Aikman, is the only real stinker. Weaver's art, which usually has a pleasant cleanness, here gets really rough, and the story manages to be about the most boring thing in the world.
The fourth story's pretty great. Focusing on a sociopathic, abused "Patton Perlin" (or something like that) who gets bitten by a spider that turns him into a cannibalistic monster, it manages to be really creepy and just a great story.
The last one, about Sp//dr (I really have no idea how to pronounce that), has some good art and neat character designs. The story is a Neon Genesis Evangelion riff, so it's not super-imaginative, but this one's mostly about character and world-building, anyways.
