I feel like this book didn't live up to it's potential in the final battle, but I was fairly happy with how it ended. Win some loose some you know.
I have mixed feelings about Tempest Revealed. I mean, I liked it and all, and I've really liked the entire series, but I also didn't enjoy as much as I did the previous books in the series.
So, I'm going to start with the big battle between Tempest and Tiamat. I wanted more of a big battle and more conflict between them then what we got in Tempest Revealed. After reading it? My reaction was "that's it? where's the big battle?" I really was hoping for something more.
I'm not super-happy with Mark and Tempest as a couple, but I don't think I'd be happy with her and Kona either. The romance just got more irritating (to me) as the series went on. I know that Mark and Kona represent her life as a mermaid and her life as a human, but I just grew really tired of the competitiveness between them. I think I just feel like they bring out one side of Tempest, and that they'll never truly understand the other part of who Tempest really is.
So, Hailana dying, which leaves Tempest as merQueen...naturally, it happens when Tempest goes to visit her family, and I can't help but wonder what would have happened if she were with her (mermaid) people. I don't know that I particularly liked that she was with her family when Hailana died, mostly because I feel like she should have been taking care of the Tiamat stuff. Still, I liked that she tried to balance both the mermaid side and the human side.
Still, I did like Tempest Revealed, and that all of the loose ends were tied up. There is something about Tempest Revealed that kept me reading, and I couldn't wait to see how things turned out...even though I wasn't completely thrilled with how some things worked out.
Let's Rate It: I liked Tempest Revealed, and was glad that all of the loose ends were tied up. While I generally felt underwhelmed with Tempest Revealed, I liked that she did try to balance two very different worlds, and there's definitely something addicting about this series. Tempest Revealed gets 3 stars.

I was a bit disappointed in the resolution of this trilogy. It seemed like the beginning dragged on and on, and there were plot twists I could see coming way early in the text, so I wasn't surprised at all by how things went. I felt like the ending was too rushed and too contrived, and it still left me with some unanswered questions. I still enjoyed the story, but I really hoped for much more than I got.
I dunno this series started out good for me but by the ending of this eh not feeling it. glad tempest is happy buuuut I have to admit her whole love triangle did not turn out how I would have liked.
I have to say I was really disappointed with the ending it all happens way too fast and I feel like it was all thrown together
Meh 3.5-3.75 stars
Logistical inconsistencies and a few grammar/ punctuation errors were annoying and slowed me down. Needs stronger editing.
Writing internalized sexism into Tempest’s character was disappointing, as author did with other books in the trilogy. T is only 17/18 and puts so much pressure on herself. I know it’s meant to serve the story but its harmful and unnecessary.
Repair w Rio was really sweet.
At the end T’s the hero for defeating the villains but gives away some of her power but claiming Mark is the best part of her or whatever and that he helps her hold onto her humanity when that’s just not true. Throughout the series, she holds her humanity and integrity tightly especially bc she’s adamant about not becoming anything like her mom.
The HEA felt rushed, esp w Kona marrying Mahina. Obvious and expected but still boring without more details. Mahina’s character could’ve been flesh out more.

This was a great ending to the series! Really enjoyed it, and yeah, happy where everyone ended up!
**WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE FIRST TWO BOOKS IN THE SERIES**
This series is absolutely one with lots of ups and downs for me. I really liked Tempest Rising, then I liked, but had some major issues with Tempest Unleashed, but all in all the storytelling did have me convinced to pick up Tempest Revealed, the last book in this series. And I'm sorta disappointed.
All the development Tempest had gone through in the first two books just seemed to vanish at times and she just (for lack of a better word) regressed a bit in my opinion. She's seemingly learned NOTHING of the past and because the decision between her family and the underwater world is impossible, she just continues to do both half-assed, which REALLY annoyed me. I mean, sure, I get that it's not easy, but make up your mind of DO something about it instead of wallowing in selfpity. Geesh. That is not an attractive quality.
I do like that in Tempest Revealed I could better understand her relationship with Mark and why she chose him. He's a good guy, though he does have some major hero-issues and should learn when to butt out and keep himself safe, because holy hell, it is not okay to keep putting yourself in danger trying to 'help' Tempest just to proove you're the 'alphamale'. UGH! At times he pretty much only complicated things and seriously, I kept thinking too-stupid-to-live. I think he's the first male character who's ever gotten this title...
There's also the return of the love triangle. Seriously, couldn't we just not have done this again? I mean, Tempest has chosen TWICE (I know it was also a different boy twice, but that's a whole other argument) and now we're back at this?? Seriously? I mean, JUST STICK WITH ONE. And just tell Kona to stop being and ass and that he'll only ever be your FRIEND and be done with it. GAH.
So I sound really negative. I know. And the truth is, while I was REALLY annoyed by the things I mentioned above, and a couple of other things as well, I did enjoy reading this book. Tracy Deebs has a really engaging writing style and this is what made me keep reading Tempest Revealed. I also wanted to know what would happen in the final showdown, because UGH, TIAMAT MUST DIE! HATEFUL CREATURE!
I do definitely think this could have been a better book if Tempest's behaviour had been consistent with the growth we've seen of her in the first two books. There was a little too much wah-wah-woe-is-me for me to really like her this time, but I do appreciate the scope of the tale Tracy Deebs has told is throughout the series. And I do very much love the underwater world she has created. It is beautiful and complicated and I hope that something like it exists somewhere.
My rating: 2,5 stars

I’m definitely a fan of mermaid books and there really aren’t too many fabulous ones out there. This trilogy was actually not too bad. The characters were decently developed, the plot had full of action and romance, and the pacing was overall not too bad. However, there was just something about it that didn’t quite make it for me. Perhaps it was the lack of overview and resolution between Tempest and her mother, perhaps it was the lack of an ending I approved or perhaps it was the fact that she picked the wrong guy. Either way, while most of the book was engaging and interesting, once I was finished, I was a little disappointed.
Tempest has one of the oddest names I have ever encountered. In fact, other than Mark, her human boyfriend, her human friends and her father, literally everyone had odd names. Her brothers were called Rio and Moku – somehow they sound Hawaiian to me. I’m really not sure if I thought her name was a good play on words or because the author chose it since she’s half mermaid but it’s definitely a little strange. Not that strange is a bad thing. Anyways, I definitely thought she was a strong character – she was always capable of standing up for herself while trying to protect her family and friends. I also enjoyed reading about her multitude of powers and how she came into them.
The one thing I didn’t really like about her was her wishy washy-ness. Honestly, she couldn’t decide anything major for her life. First, she couldn’t figure out who to save which cost her mother’s life. Then, she couldn’t figure out who she liked so she kept going back and forth between the selkie prince or her human boyfriend. It was honestly quite frustrating and at the very end, she ended up with the one that I didn’t think suited her that well. And then finally, she couldn’t decide whether or not to stay human or mermaid or somewhere in between. She knew her unwillingness to let her human side go was jeopardizing her family and ultimately, it almost cost her brother’s life. Granted it’s a tough decision but if she was as invested in saving the merworld then that was a decision she had to make. Even at the end, she didn’t really choose which kind of annoyed me.
The two guys, Mark and Kona (again, strange name), were both incredibly different and called to Tempest in two different directions – the human world and the merworld. Yet because she couldn’t decide which to live at, she also couldn’t decide which guy to be with. While I liked their overall protectiveness for Tempest, in a way, they were both incredibly pigheaded and Neanderthal in their way. Especially Kona with his prince like stubbornness. At the same time, though, I can understand their need to protect her because they love her.
The ending was a major bummer. Despite the fact that she picked the wrong guy, there wasn’t much information on her family. Especially after she found out who Sabrina, her dad’s girlfriend, really was, there was zero information on how they handled it nor what they did when they found out. In fact, there was one sentence about dad’s new girlfriend and that was it. Plus, there was no mention about Tempest’s tumultuous relationship with one of her brother. It was as if everything ended half empty.
Overall, it was a decent series – still looking for that fabulous mermaid series though. Also, quick thing, the last book cover literally has a 12 year old girl on it. It looks way too unbelievable for me that she's supposed to be a 18-19 years old by that time.
