Nathan Dean did not disappoint. I was really looking forward to his story and finding out what happened with him and Audrey in the past. I was so curious as to how they got together in the first place. While I love both Nathan and Audrey, this story didn’t have quite the intensity of the previous books, Forgotten Sins and Sweet Revenge. It was still an amazing read, I just didn’t feel as “edge of my seat” suspense as the other stories.

There were so many players in this story that I didn’t trust. It seemed to me that Audrey put her trust in too many people, even while being cautious. So I was constantly waiting for the other faces of these people to show. Like Audrey, I want to believe in the good in people. Like Nate, I just can’t let my guard down that much. Plus, seeing Audrey’s faith in her mother and her belief that her mother had some kind of soul deep down made it hard to trust her judgement.

Of course, the Dean brothers came through for Nathan. I would expect nothing less. But, to be honest, for a bit there I was very concerned about their “plan”. I don’t even know if you can call what they did a plan! But these guys are so well-trained, I shouldn’t have doubted them.

I enjoyed the chemistry between Nate and Audrey. It was sweet to watch them reconnect and see how protective Nathan was, even when he still felt betrayed by her. And Audrey proved to be a touch cookie, much tougher than I was giving her credit for.

All fiction requires an element of suspension of disbelief. This series is starting to get to a point of pushing that envelope. Not, as you may think, with the experiments and abilities given to the soldiers. No, it’s the timeline. I feel like the Dean brothers have only had weeks to get rid of their kill chips for a year now. I know there’s only one book left in this series and we’ll finally “meet” the dead/not dead Jory. I can only assume this kill chip matter will finally be resolved. I’m really loving this series, I only wish I didn’t feel like the author was pushing the bounds with that timeline.

I won a copy of this book via a FirstReads giveaway.

This is the third book in the "Sin Brothers" series. I have not read the other two and while the author does a great job of filling in some information from the previous books, I would suggest reading them in order.

Nate Dean is a genetically engineered soldier who, along with his brothers, escaped the commander years ago. Two of his brothers have found love and are trying to live a normal life while a third brother remains missing. All of the Dean brothers are under a deadline, though. They each have a "kill chip" embedded near their spine that is set to detonate within a few weeks time. In order to locate his missing brother and find the codes to disable the kill chips, Nate approaches his first love, Aubrey. Aubrey grew up knowing about Nate's military background and is all too familiar with how evil the commander is. She's covertly working with a U.S. senator in the hopes of shutting down the commander's experiments.

I really enjoyed the pace of this book and the author's writing. There was plenty of action and intrigue to keep me on the edge of my seat, but also plenty of romance between the main characters. I definitely plan to read more from this author and to read this series from the beginning.

I am a big fan of this author, however this series just doesn't do it for me. I won't be continuing with this series.

Meh!!! Not my fave Sin Brother but it's important to move the story along. Can't wait to read about Jory.

The Premise
The third book in the Sin Brothers series finds Nate searching out his old love Audrey to find the codes for the chips that are implanted in his brothers’ (and his own) spine before they basically explode and kill them all. Audrey is the daughter of the scientist who was working with the Commander, the villain who started the project to breed supersoldiers and rule the world, natch. Audrey and Nate were in love, but misunderstandings lead to their breakup and neither one is over the other, but they aren’t sure if they can overcome the past to see if they have a future together.

The Good
Nate and Audrey have some good chemistry, the tension ratchets up with every chapter as you’re not sure who’s a villain and who’s not. The overarching storyline of the Gray Brothers against the Commander is still compelling storytelling and you just want to know when they’ll get the codes and finally be free to enjoy their HEA with their loves. Each book does focus on one brother and there is a resolution to their individual love stories, so that is satisfying. The twist in this story was unexpected, and I waffled on whether I liked it, but ultimately I think it worked for Nate and Audrey’s HFN.

The Could Be Better
There’s a samey-ness to the series, and all the brothers blend at times into the same generic alpha hero. Nate is no exception. That chip storyline is the strongest and the most frustrating because you keep waiting through each book for something new to happen and while the brothers each fall in love, that’s about the main change in the story. If it weren’t for the individual HEAs, I may have given up on the series by now.

The Bottom Line
I am still enjoying the series and I’m eager to find out about the final brother, Jory. That said, alot is riding on the final book and I hope it can live up to it - it could tie the whole series together, or leave me dissatisfied.

Surely I would have enjoyed Blind Faith more if I had read its predecessors. And yet, while the world felt constructed to provide the high stakes possible, everything fell flat. Due to my lack of familiarity with the series, it took time for me to get used to the world. As such, I wasn't necessarily welcomed in. While I did appreciate not being beaten over the head, I can figure things out myself pretty well and don't want the author to sacrifice their story for the sake of some like me reading out of order. However, this world required a lot of suspension of disbelief I was just not ready to give at this point.

The characters felt like broad outlines rather than fully-developed people I could root for. I assume there was romantic development between Nate and Audrey somewhere else in the series, because I felt like I was coming in halfway through. While I got all the pertinent information, I was told rather than shown. And I felt that way about their relationship as a whole. I was told the backstory, told about their connections (whether romantic or sexual), ect and never got to fully experience it.

All in all, while I appreciated getting to know this work, it's not the romance title for me.

Unf, I love these books! Action, romance, and did I mention more action and romance? A great combination and one that's sure to keep me turning the pages!

These books have the rare quality of being both an action novel and steamy romance at the same time, and it's a combination that works really well. I quite like it in contrast to the usual romance novels out there, and the fact that it's done pretty well helps quite a bit! Any romance aficionado will tell you that it's easy to find romance... It's the good romance that we're all so desperate for!

The book opens with Nate on a quest to save himself and his brothers, and intent on confronting the woman he believes he betrayed him, too. Audrey has tried to harden her heart, but failed, and she isn't sure she'll survive Nate coming back into her life again. The two of them have undeniable chemistry, though, and it's just too much to resist!

Nate is a broody but vulnerable tough guy, struggling to move on and heal from his past, protective and loyal. Swoon-worthy combination :) His scenes with Audrey could literally make pages melt, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the progression of their relationship throughout the book, and the way that they slowly heal.

If there was one thing I would wish, it would be that there was more to the plot - it's all focused on one big story arc, which I don't have a problem with, but I wish that there were more subplots in each book. I think that would have taken the book over the edge from good to 'amazing', to be honest.

The pace was really quick because of the limited time remaining for the boys. I was more invested in Nate and Audrey, though I did enjoy Matt and Laney's story.
