This has to be one of the best books I’ve read all year! Partridge spins a Halloween tale with words and characters that seem lit from Jack O’ Lantern flames of the likes of Ray Bradbury. The ride was fast and wild, and I was in it full-steam to the end! This is a Halloween tale for the ages and I was blown away page after page. There wasn’t a moment in this story that didn’t have me hooked! Holy shit, what a ride!
Fantastic light summer read! I read this book in about two nights and loved every bit of it.
The idea of a cursed town and a mass hunt performed by literally hungry adolescents is brilliant. I really liked the main character he was a good mix of smart, smart-a**, and hero (in his own twisted way).
It is a dark book, but in a way that it wouldn't weigh down on the heart. But it can be thought provoking at times.

I like the premise of the story but the writing felt a little melodramatic at times. I also think certain elements of the story needed some development. Overall a fun and short not-too-spooky read.

It took awhile for this book to pick up the pace but I definitely became more invested once I hit 50%. I was kind of confused in the beginning and the confusion was more frustrating than captivating.. I think because this was a shorter book. I did become invested after 50% but the ending didn’t quite seal the deal. I liked the IDEA behind the book, I really did! I’ve heard such good things about it, but it just wasn’t what I had anticipated. I found hints of The Purge, Hunger Games and The Island (movie) in the book and that was fun to draw parallels to that!
This IS the PERFECT read for spooky season! I listened to this book on audio and it added a whole extra level of creepiness!
