Ok not to be like super rude but this does feel like it was written by either a teenage boy who thinks he’s all that and a bag of chips OR my gym teacher. Either way, a lot of the language used was unintentionally very funny. The amount of times chucklehead was used as a serious insult continuously caught me off guard. I thought at some point I’d be free from the old man diss, but it just kept coming back.
I admit that I saw the movie first, but I was prepared for the book to be significantly different. I feel it had more differences than similarities, but the basic gist is the same.
Honestly, I wasn't a fan or the writing style. I didn't mind the references to the reader and what they knew and didn't. I actually thought that was clever, but just like, I don't know it was a bit dull. The writing evoked little emotion in me. Conceptually, I like the book but it's not on a reread list.

Dark harvest
A very cool premise set up very well! This book moves fast but the voice is well done and has some great lines. I like that we don’t know what will happen, why it’s happening, or who to vote for. It’s an interesting book.

Every year, the teen population of a 1960s small town is locked in their room, starving, for five days prior to Oct. 31st. On Halloween, the teens are set loose in the streets to hunt the October Boy, a pumpkin-headed ghoul. The rules are few: a young person must kill the October Boy before it reaches the church in the center of town. The narrator floats between characters and events, showing readers that this Halloween may be different from any other previous year.

Fun, spooky, and very Halloween. Nothing all that special, but I had a good time.
