Overall a perfectly fine romance read but nothing too exciting.  It wasn't even that long but it felt long at times maybe because it felt very formulaic?  I get impatient when two people are so clearly into each other but insist they're not sure how the other feels. Very mis-communication-y and I don't love that.  It was steamy and the audiobook narration was great so I did get through it pretty quickly but again it just felt longer than it actually was.

Adding this to my favorites list! This book was so good! So absolutely beautiful and heartwarming and funny! The sexual tension was so sharp you could cut it with a knife but also their romance was so sweet and beautiful to watch unfold! These characters just feel so real and they are so well written! I personally think the mental health rep was amazingly done. I am so looking forward to reading more by this author!

✨What it is about:
Inspired by Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, this story follows Bea and Jamie, two people who are initially enemies, but are forced to fake a relationship for a mutual benefit. ✨

💭My thoughts:
This is book one of The Wilmot Sisters series, and it was an entertaining story that followed two characters that couldn’t be more different from each other. When they are pushed together and start fake dating, their animosity gives way to an unexpected connection, and they develop feelings for each other. Both characters have a lot of emotional baggage to deal with, and I enjoyed how they confronted that as well as all their insecurities, and leaned on to their amazing chemistry together. This has its super spicy moments, so beware of that if that’s something you like to avoid, and though slightly predictable, it was charming, fun and heartwarming.

4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Has a really dumb 3rd act breakup, but otherwise good

Chloe Liese and i have a complicated relationship— [b: The Mistletoe Motive|59567857|The Mistletoe Motive|Chloe Liese|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1636375645l/59567857._SY75_.jpg|93699618] is one of my fave books ever. while her Bergman Brothers series is inconsistently up and down with a dnf thrown into the mix.

so, i went into this with an open mind and pretty neutral expectations... and lemme tell you, this was an all-around very mixed bag.

i really wasnt feeling the first 15%, give or take, and i assumed i wouldn’t enjoy the rest of the book— i initially struggled with the dialogue mainly, and the writing style at times. it felt a little clunky, i can’t lie. and i was worried the book would be too tropey while relying too heavily on the tropes.

but i was slowly but surely proved wrong. i have never been so happy to eat my own words, honestly.

i was won over by the pure softness of Bea and Jamie. their banter was so witty and charming, their back and forth was so rapid-fire and full of snark, while they rivalled each other intellectually, too, so that aspect just heightened the tension.

and my god that man was swoon-worthy.
”My fake boyfriend isn’t supposed to ruin me for everyone else,” I whisper.
Jamie’s eyes fall shut as he drops his forehead to mine. “Sometimes, Beatrice, I want to ruin you for everyone else.”

-1 star b/c of the way Bea handled their relationship when her sister was scorn. It made no sense to “take a break” b/c her sister was emotionally abused and broken hearted. That was wrong of her to treat the man she claimed to love more than anything.
