I’m still going through the Bergman Brothers series and read this one with the same expectations. It’s a little different though. I did not relate with these characters as much.
The banter between Bea and James is spot on. Her ansiety puts her through some awkward and hard times, like the party where they first met. They are two opposites who really work well together, and it’s possible see it flourish into a beautiful and uplifting relationship.
Also, I want Bea as my friend. Everyone needs a friend with her quirkiness and lack of filter. And James is so sweet, who doesn’t like a cat daddy?

This was cozy and cute. Nothing really happened, and the ending was kinda rushed, but overall a quick fun read!

I hated this book. It's lucky I read a book before it that was worse so I can't give it one star, but it was so bad.
First of all, both characters were supposed to be based off of my favorite characters from Much Ado About Nothing- Bea faintly resembled Beatrice and Jamie didn't resemble Benedick at all and that broke my heart.
The drama in the last act?? Where Beatrice famously utters her line "O that I were a man / I would eat his heart in the marketplace" (might not be accurate cuz I'm going off of memory but that's the line)? Yeah, that didn't happen. Instead Bea makes a stupid decision, poorly communicated, and luckily Jamie saves her so she doesn't have to talk.
I don't know why this book was so long, it was unnecessary. And made me suffer for over a week instead of three days. I read another romance and a historical fiction while reading this book and it just highlighted a) how poor the dialogue is and b) how clonky the writing style is.
And it's so clear that this book is just setting up the next one - we never hear that Christopher (side character) and Kat (mc's little sister) hate each other, until the end of the book - and then! We get a sneak peek at the next book - a book about Kat and Christopher!
tl;dr - would not recommend reading this book
This book slowed my reading down, I disliked the experience of reading it so much
