the most hard earned romance!! zane and celeste have the most hauntingly and heartbreaking story of the series- hands down. their story is told in two parts, with events spanning from before the timeline of the first book and and after the ending of book three.
the trauma these two experienced was gut wrenching, but their love truly blossomed in the darkest of places. from childhood enemies, to secret lovers, back to enemies and then finally getting the HEA they deserved. i cannot recommend this one enough, but be very mindful of the extensive triggers that are within this book.

Teddy Hamilton was the PERFECT Zane and I couldnt imagine anyone but Lacy Laurel narrating Celeste- no critiques, it was phenomenal

Starting 2025 off strong !
This book had me in tears multiple times, honestly I think it’s because by book 5 we all know the family so well. Knowing each person involved so intimately, just makes the betrayal hit harder. I honestly broke for both Celeste and Zane individually and separately.

My gosh it’s infuriating though how having a simple conversation could have saved so much damage - but I get it, I think!

Extremely toxic familial, platonic, and romantic relationships.  Did not enjoy Part I because the main characters' relationship seemed insincere, then occurs a major miscommunication involving infidelity, suicide, and mental illness.

this is my favorite of the series so far but i cant wait for sierras story

A beautiful book truly. I did very much in enjoy the back and forth of enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers….yes it was that many times.
Zane is so sexy when he flirts. Celeste is so sexy when she propositions him.
I thought it was very honest of the author to force them to deal with the major violation of trust by Celeste. She easily could have just ended the book with their first happily ever after but it would have been a lie.
Celeste’s trust issues actually got a bit annoying for me and I found myself telling her to get over it!!! But frankly didn’t matter because Zane stood his ground, rightfully so.
The sort of annoying part about this is that I read up to the incident and then happened to flip to the end and saw a trigger warning page. Read it. Didn’t know one word on it. Looked it up and completely solved the entire book

I devoured this in one day.

So much angst, tension, heartbreak, spice, and those little dashes of humour.

Celeste and Zane's story has to be one of my favourite, from Pt 1 that was almost their own prequel novella, to the sheer tragedy that initiates their downfall.

“I hate her with all I am,” I whisper, my eyes closed. “No,” Lex says, his voice soft. “You don’t. And that’s the problem, isn’t it?”

And doesn't that say it all!
dark emotional hopeful inspiring sad tense medium-paced

I tried so hard because I love Zane. But this is about 40% too long.

this book made me so sad, celeste handled that so badly :/
