It’s a shame because I liked the first three books of this series and was looking forward to this one. But it’s a no from me. Finishing this book was agonizing for me. It left me with so many questions and it became confusing. If you aren’t a fan of female groveling, skip this one. If you do read it, please read the triggers beforehand.
*SPOILERS*
Celeste was done so dirty. It was all one big misunderstanding? They make a huge deal about the power and access that the Windsor family has but no one could prove that her friend was lying? And why wouldn’t the friend’s dad tell them this information sooner? He waited 5 years to reveal her diagnosis at the exact time if needed to be revealed. And making Celeste frame him for corporate espionage was so out of character based on how she was set up in the first quarter of the book.
Also the grandma saying she’d never choose Celeste, then doing exactly that was INSANE. By the point she did force them to marry, it was not really much of a business deal because Celeste’s company was nearly disposable. And the issue between the grandparents was never explained and they just kind of stopped being enemies out of nowhere.
Also why didn’t Lilly leave anything for Zane? Like if she was having delusions about their relationship why wouldn’t she leave him a letter or call him or something?
I was just confused the whole time. The first 30% of the book was nice though.

What a ride, what a ride. I cried from chapters 87-97. This was what a relationship with broken trust looks like. The pain, misunderstandings, and so on. It was such a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Zane & Celestial are truly a couple who fought for their relationship.
P.S. I knew something was wrong with Lily. I knew it!!!

3.5 stars, rounding to 4 because I read over half the book in one stting. I was honestly expecting so many things, but ehat really happened.
ugh i’m such a sucker for a second chance. this entire series is bingable and i love every second of it. celeste and zane literally had me screaming, crying, and kicking my feet
I liked Celeste in the beginning but as the story progressed and the whole chaos with Lily happen, she started to become annoying. She irritated me like no other main character has done. That girl needed therapy. I know she went through a traumatic experience because of what happen with Lily. But girl, seriously? Didn’t question things, completely believed what Lily said without any actual proof? (Lily rubbed me the wrong way too, felt like she did it on purpose) It seemed as if Celeste jumped on the excuse Lily gave her so she could turn against Zane (he wasn’t blameless either, he was mean to her when they were kids so he had his moments but ended up falling really hard for her when they were in their early twenties.) I don’t know it just felt so stupid with that whole Lily situation and Celeste trying to avenge her. Second hand embarrassment. And then the moments where she was hot and cold. Blaming everyone but herself. Always jumping to conclusions and really insecure, which again, my girl needed therapy badly. Overall, couldn’t enjoy this book. At times I had to skim through the pages because I was just so annoyed with her character and the idiotic miscommunication. In the end, didn’t even want them to end up together.

WOOW!! Zane & Celeste!!
okay so the book really doesn't star until chapter 36 (we get to see there relationship bloom but at the same time. We see how Zane and Celeste don't talk anymore because of a situation) I love that both of them know something the is broken is hard to fixed even thought the love each other.
Celeste knew she was not going to be able to trust him and even though Zane never lied to her. I saw how much both of them really wanted to hurt each other but the same time they did love each other. The hurt and pain the went through was stupid because Lily's father had to tell her and do something if you know you daughters had a problem same with the doctor. Lily's confession hurt a lot of people.
Zane and Celeste had some much to heal but at the same time the did love each other the passion they had. and even those vows they promise even though they broke some they still were fighting
I cried a lot in this book. but love it this story you were able to see the love they had and I'm just loving this whole series of marriage of convenience

Where do I even start? Trust is a very important element or component in a relationship. There’s no point in staying in a relationship if there is no trust. I think Celeste never really trusted Zane to begin with considering their past when they were in high school. Zane already said he did not cheat on her, but she did not trust him because of what her best friend said to her before she died and after reading the letters. She should have done some investigating to see what was going on, but in her defense, she was grieving. After she learned the truth, she was trying her best to make amends but just like what Archer and Zane said, she did screw up. Once trust is off the table, it will take a long time to earn that trust back. I feel bad for Zane because he does not deserve any of Celeste's BS.
Their relationship near the end was just too much for me - the whole “I love you but I don’t trust you but I will still try.” I think the best way for them to seek closure is if they get help from a therapist or counselor. There are just way too many layers that need to be examined, at least for Celeste because she has so many insecurities.
All in all, this book was still a good read.
