I think a problem I have as a writer, I often think of what I would have happen in a series and then I'm disappointed when it goes another way, especially when I personally think the world and story has so much potential. Not a criticism towards the author or even the story it just didn't stack up for me in my mind. The trilogy started off strong and it just declined for me. Oh well.

This was bad. The fact that Spinale killed off so many characters by the end and constantly telling the story with new characters that I, a reader, have no interest or connection to just wasn't a good move in my opinion. I am glad to be done with this trilogy.

Hurgh.
Okay, So I had a lot of problems with the first book, the second book wasn't the best but had two amazing characters in Alyssa and Maddox. This book? Had nothing. Alyssa and Maddox sidelined, Pete and Gwen there but not really; Gail, who was new, as one of the flattest characters ever. A bad end to an overall mediocre series.

Ozland by Wendy Spinale is the finale to her Everland trilogy. I loved the way these books retold the fairytales of our childhood, but I did feel like Ozland dropped the ball with the Oz references. Both Everland (Peter Pan) and Umberland (Alice in Wonderland) we’re clear off the bat from their character names to the way those characters acted and interacted. Ozland’s characters didn’t feel as distinctly Oz, which was a bit disappointing, since the Wizard of Oz, out of the three stories, was the one I grew up most familiar with. That being said, the story itself was still interesting and fast-paced. I was able to finish this book in a few hours, much like the two before it. If you’re a fan of retellings, I would definitely check this series out, but just know that the Oz references are vague or heavily veiled, compared to the obvious nature of the first two books.

A somewhat disappointing conclusion.. the story felt rushed and not as explored as the previous stories
