okay I’m pumped for this series. World building was fun. Character development is picking up. Another series where you’re just waiting for something big to happen. I love the action and violence. The relationships being formed with two side characters is sweet. And MMC

Ok, there were a lot of good quotes from this book and I don't know if it was because of the man-hating base of the lines or because I felt them so hard (listed below) BUT I loved that this book has a band of misfits those are my fav, they tend to show a softer side and pull you into the characters but also that the smut didn't overwhelm the plot. Like I wasn't flipping through the pages trying to find out when the railing began but was so engrossed in the progress of the story that it didn't matter.
I wasn't completely in love with the FMC and that's why it got a 4 star I did thoroughly enjoy the side characters.
‘A true man won’t cut you down as you fight your battles, nor will he fight them for you. A true man will help sharpen your sword, guard your back and fight at your side, in the face of whatever darkness comes.’
‘I believe that like all prophecies, it’s up for interpretation and that the fears of men can distort those interpretations…
‘You will come to learn that most things to be feared exist in life, not in death.’you seek power in a world of men and monsters, there is nothing more powerful than knowledge and the ability to wield it.
‘No woman is responsible for the weak acts of a man who’s had his masculinity so easily threatened,’

This was an unexpected read! I’ve heard nothing of it, and randomly downloaded it on my kindle. I loved it! It was quite long for a first book, but it had me intrigued. There’s still so much we don’t know about Thea and her life which is why I’m downloading the next book as I type this. I’m loving this world as well as the FMC & her love interest. I think the side characters add a lot of depth also. It kind of reminds me of fourth wing? Minus the dragons? I don’t know. I’ll keep you posted if I feel the same after the next book. X
