Not bad but I did think I was going to enjoy it more than I did.
There didn't seem to be much plot, or at least it didn't really seem to progress much. The book was more focussed on the characters and how they developed rather than anything else. It was a bit like those montages in films where the character trains to become a master at something, but the entire book was the montage.
There are some stupid decisions which I always have a hard time getting over, but I'll give all characters the benefit of the doubt for now. I'll continue the series but it's on thin ice. To be honest, if it wasn't for the fact I want to read Iron & Embers, I probably wouldn't bother continuing. The things I do for Wren...

I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a romantasy series with a nice slow burn between strong protagonist FMC and morally grey MMC. This first book was great as it wasn’t just focused on them. If you’re looking for your next Aelin TOG vibe, this is a choice.
