I enjoy gritty thrillers, I don’t mind the violence that comes with a Karin Slaughter even - but this book contains so much gratuitous violence & sexual violence, and the storyline is frankly ludicrous.

I enjoyed parts of this. The sarcastic main character is committed to serving bitchiness in a humorous way. Ultimately, I'm not sure how someone so dumb and impulsive is getting away with anything. That's the least of my problems with this book though.

For starters, the ending isn't an ending. It's a cliff hanger and that easily knocks off a whole star for me. There is no self contained story in this book. Just a series of things that happen.

Then the book tries to lure you into continuing the series by giving you a blurb not just about the next book, but the one after that. So...I actually already know how this plays out without reading any more of the series. Convenient since I wasn't going to anyway.

I didn't like how much body shaming there is in this. Characters are critical of our main character's weight (who I believe is Ella Purnell in the show... Who is calling her fat?), but the worst is actually the way the main character talks about her own weight and relationship with food/calories. This book could have cut all of that. It added nothing except weird vibes.

In the end, I think this just isn't for me. I won't continue with the series or author.

blown away

This is one of the funniest books I have read in ages. Definitely a reread and can’t wait to continue the series. Absolute masterpiece.

Excellent narration, interesting premise, but just not my cup of Lady Grey. Read if you like female serial killers, colorful British language, and traumatic backstories.

I just couldn't understand the point. A lot of it was tedious everyday stuff and then there'd be action. At one point I thought i knew what she was up to in how to deal with someone but in the end that didn't even turn out right. And the way she treats AJ especially in the end I just hated. There was no justification for it. I enjoyed their friendship but the ending didn't make any sense.
I only finished the book because it was on audio and filled a prompt in a reading challenge.
