Didn't think I'd like it, but I enjoyed it.
While this book was definitely a 5/5 on the steam rating, there were some issues for me while reading it.
I do want to start off by saying that I enjoyed how this book slowly guided the reader into the world of BDSM. Abby is new to being a submissive, so we are slowly introduced to the lifestyle right along with her instead of being plunged right into the deep end.
While I definitely don't read books like this for the storyline, I did find this one to be weirdly paced. Great attention was shown on the scenes it went into detail on, but everything else felt like a rapid summary instead of actually living through it with the characters. This was definitely a teller and not a shower kind of a book, if you know what I mean

Predictable romance with a bit of spanking. Along the lines of Fifty Shades.

I couldn’t get past the treatment of safewording. If the protagonist used her safeword, their entire relationship would end, which seriously impacts the safety of using said safeword. Safeword are never to have a punishment, and should always be freely encouraged to be used.

Meh.
I FINISHED THIS IN ONE DAY..I cant remember when I was able to do that. Although it did capture my attention from the very first paragraph because let me tell you there is no building up to the encounter..Abby is the submissive from the very beginning..I had to flip back to make sure I started from the beginning and up I did. What is it about this "50 Shades of Grey" genre books that just draw me in. I liked this book a lot and I am glad that we get to read from Nathaniel's POV in book 2..Abby the shy librarian and Nat the wealthy CEO are a great couple together and I love his family they are so loving. But Nat can be an a$$ in this book and Abby did the right thing by leaving him but I knew he didn't mean what he said but I dropped my jaw at what he said to her. The arrangement that they came up with at the end will hopefully work out well.
This story pulled me in right from the beginning when Abby is standing in Nathaniel's office meeting with him about becoming his new submissive. She is new to the lifestyle and we see everything from her point of view. The story is about their relationship, without a lot of outside drama. BDSM is treated as a valid lifestyle choice and not as something that needs to be fixed. Nathaniel is a Dominant and Abby is a submissive and they just fit. With label-less cans and naked picnics, this is a fun, steamy, and emotional read and I recommend it. (Especially if you liked Fifty Shades of Gray. This story actually came first and I liked it more.)
