You definitely need to read the first book [b:Day by Day Armageddon|74821|Day by Day Armageddon|J.L. Bourne|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41WC3DVT4DL._SL75_.jpg|2138628] before this book, but I highly recommend both of them!

This one wasn't as good as the first book.... and I would have given it 4 stars, but it drove me nuts how much he used the word "as" (like you would use the word "because"). I did this, as this is the reason. I listened to the audiobook, so maybe that's why it stuck out to me.

A bigger fan of the 1st book...Bourne writes a good scare and the suspense of the 1st one is missing here. No big scares and little zombie action makes this a hopeful bridge to the end of the trilogy. Too many abreviations and not enough of the characters we grew to love in the first book.
Looking forward to the next installment in hopes it gets better.

Meh
I liked the first book. I was impressed that the author brought in a capable woman in this book, but she was soon tossed aside and the book started reading more like a Tom Clancy novel, all about military moves and no characterization. If you like that style, then you'll like this book.

Much like the first book, I enjoyed reading this one as well. Same narrator for the audiobook which I love. Still a diary entry type of story telling. The author does this style well in my opinion. The MC is thrown back out into the world of the apocalypse after being in a safe and secure location for a while. He must traverse the world to get back to his "family" and "home". All of these are the people and places we discovered in the first book. His journey through the wasteland is good.
I personally, don't care for the ending. Which is why I took off a star. The author adds the explanation for the zombie virus and I really thought it was silly. I will still read and re-read the first two books, but I stop the second book before the ending because it irritates me.

This is the second book in the Day by Day Armeggedon series and, while I liked this book, I didn't like it as much as the first. I think, while the first book is about a guy who happens to have the skills of a marine surviving a zombie apocalypse, the second book gets too technical. The character gets recomissioned into the Marines to save the civilians hiding in a bunker with him. After this a lot of the book talks about different weapons and military devices in a technical way that sometimes pulled me out of the story. I also didn't find the parts where things started dropping from the sky very believable. The story is still entertaining and I do like some real know how when people write about weapons and such, there was just a little too much in this book for my liking.
