Overall I would rate this book just slightly below the first. The author seemed to abandon the "journal format" without really abandoning it (if that makes sense) which made for a challenging read in some places. I felt like the ending more than made up for the few overall faults. Really looking forward to reading the next one.

Just when I think J.L. Bourne couldn't surprise me anymore .... Most of the times I do not like squeals or I think hmmm no where as good as the first , this is NOT one of those times. There were plenty of oh no he didnt moments in this book. There were many many maaaaaaaaaaannnnyyyy oh crap moments in this book. I am stoked for book 3

This book is the most meh I’ve ever read. Not good, not bad just meh.

Second instalment as great as the first, World War Z NO THANKS! If you want to read about Zombies with a good storyline with it this series is the one, well if not this the White Flag for the Dead Series!

For poor books remember what Yoda said - "If no mistake have you made, yet losing you are ... a different game you should play!"

How I review...
1 star - binned it before half way, please don't write anymore!!!
2 stars - finally binned it after really trying, I mean really trying and I hate to not finishing someth....
3 stars - finished it but boy was that hard work on times, it just about hooked me back in as I was about to dump it
4 stars - great book but it lacked something, something, can't put my finger on it but.... something
5 stars - want more, more books, more movies about the books, more movies about the authors and the making of the movie, just more!!!

Just like Max Brooks, J.L. Bourne knows how to rock the zombie genre. While the book is occasionally over-cluttered with techno/military jargon, the story is quickly paced and compelling. If you liked World War Z, read the first book in this series, "Day By Day Armageddon," and then pick up this book.

Loved the first book. This one got a bit too Rambo-esque. I'll finish the last book, though.

Military gobbledygook made the Hotel 23 scenes an utter bore. Things picked up in the middle but deteriorated toward the end. At least I managed to finish it.

At first I wasn't sure about the cause but after reflection I think it works. That said what I really love about this book is the portrayal of the military. They don't run roughshod over the civilian population and actively work to protect them. I also like that there is another threat besides the zombies. I find the different types of zombies in this book really cool along with the reasons why they are different. I like that bad guys turn out to be good guys and vice-versa. This was a great sequel.
