This was cute if you think cute is someone saying "he doesn't like me" eleven thousand times. Or if you love miscommunication. Or complete lack of communication.
This was too long and too repetitive. It felt like the entire middle of the book was just fluff because this should have been 150 pages instead of over 300.
Main characters? Lucas is fine. He's not as "grumpy" as this grumpy/sunshine narrative leads us to believe, but he's mostly a likable character. Izzy is . . . well . . . pretty immature. I could not stop rolling my eyes or grumbling "oh, grow up" every ten pages. When she's just working on things at the hotel, she's at her best. When she's thinking about her love life? I want to maul her. And not in a sexy way.
If you like books where you get whiplash from the characters going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth a million times, you'll love this! I became so annoyed that I honestly didn't care if they ended up together or not (but of course they are going to because this is a rom-com). I just wanted the chase and the drama to stop. I'm too old for this shit.
But I didn't dislike everything. I liked the dual narrative, which gave me the opportunity to know what each party was thinking (and discover that one of them is quite empty in the head). I really liked the saving the hotel parts. If that had overshadowed the romance, this would have been a much different and much better book.
I had been hoping this would be more like [b:The Flatshare|36478784|The Flatshare|Beth O'Leary|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1552471375l/36478784._SY75_.jpg|58189559], a book that made me realize my old heart wasn't actually dead and gone, it was just hibernating.
I'm 1-1 on Beth O'Leary, so I'll give her another go in the future.
