Yawn. I got about 75% of the way through this audiobook and I was so bored and confused that I had to stop. I wanted to like this book so much but I just wasn't buying the story. Disappointing!
All that hype for this?? Mediocre at best and I'm being very generous here. The heroine comes across as a very weak and stupid character who runs away to PARIS with a total stranger who says he knows her estrange father's family and that they are looking for her???? WTF! She has little to no personality and there is no logic behind her actions.
And that's just the beginning. She ping-pongs between the abs of one guy and the eyes of another for 100 pages...While being chased and attacked by knife-wielding assassins! Do I smell another love triangle? GREAT!! Not!

It started off very off to me but it eventually made sense and I enjoyed this book very much.
I devoured this. The Da Vinci Code meets YA, yes please. Can't wait for the sequel to be available from my holds list. Loved the nonstop plot, the teen angst, and the secret society, historical clues, and ridiculousness that ensues. Just what I needed for a relaxing weekend with a book.
I thought this books was great. It hooks you a couple chapters in. If you like mystery, glamour, and romance this is the book for you. It follows a girl whose whole life has been a lie and when she's finally given a chance to meet her family she doesn't know whats she's getting herself into. Watch as she juggles secrets and lies, romance and betrayal, good and evil. Definitely a must read!

Classic naive, spineless girl is thrust into a whole new world stuck between two guys but its still love at first sight. You know the usual bullcrap. I honestly think this book is for twelve year olds

This series has been on my to-read list for a long time, and curiosity got the best of me. From the start, I knew this book was going to be a mess, but I couldn't stop reading because I had to see how bad it could get. Avery was one of the dumbest and most reckless main characters I've ever read. There was not a single critical thought in that girl's head. I mean, she decides to go to Paris with a guy she just met because he claims to know her father's family. I feel it would have made more sense for her to confront her mother about everything first, but no, she leaves with this random guy with barely any information. Also, it bothered me how The Order was portrayed as the villains for trying to take down The Circle, a power-hungry organization full of rich people who control the world. How are The Order not the group I should be rooting for? Because, as of right now, I'm hoping they win. And don't get me started on the purple eyes!

This book took me longer to finish then I had originally anticipated, mostly due to the fact that I had to stop reading and process my thoughts and emotions. I did predict the possibility of Avery and Stellan marrying once it was revealed he could be the descendent of Alexander the Great. I also predicted the order kidnapping Avery's mom and would kill Mr. Emerson. I am intrigued to know what happens, though I have a few ideas which I will share when I do my first update on Map of Fates.
