Ever since Avery was little, she has been constantly moving, following her mother's work. When she discovers that she may be the key to an ancient prophecy involving secret societies, she is suddenly thrust into the life of The Circle, which consists of the twelve most powerful families in the world. Following two mysterious boys across the world, she is hunted by The Order, the enemies to The Circle, while trying to rescue someone she loves.

This was a super fun read! Is it believable? Definitely not. But it was very entertaining! I was never bored while reading and with every flip of the page something new was happening. It felt almost like an action movie with all the treasure hunting and adventure that took place. I'm also a sucker for Paris so I was excited that a chunk of the book took place there!

I really enjoyed the characters in this! Avery got on my nerves at times for how 'special snowflake' she felt. But I still liked her enough, even though she's a bit of a moron for agreeing to jump on a plane with a boy she literally JUST met... but we'll let that one slide. She also got a tad annoying about mentioning how hot Jack is every few pages... but again... we'll let that slide. I was a big fan of Stellan, one of the two boys in the picture. I think his back story was interesting and I want to learn more. BUT, I was also a fan of Jack as well. I'm not sure who I'm rooting for (probably Stellan) so I'm definitely intrigued to see where the story progresses from here. Luc was definitely one of my favourite character, he's so sweet and pure and I want to protect him at all costs.

I'm definitely going to be picking up the second book!

I love me some mystery and it's true fans of Ally Carter will love it. I really enjoyed the hunt for the clues and the characters. I think they will develop more in the coming books. I am not sure if it will a be a trilogy or a series but I really want to know the characters more and see what will happen after that ending. I want to see what "fate" has hidden for them. I loved Avery I can see a lot of potential for her character. I want more of Stellan, I believe that I will fall for this character so bad. Jack is fine. I don't know I couldn't feel that much for him. He was a good character but that's for me. I can't wait for the next book.

I was so sure this book would not disappoint me, I even bought the second book prior to reading the first installment. Yes, the second book was purchased at the Dollar Tree, however, it is still very rare for me to buy a sequel without reading the first book.

But I had such faith in this book...
UGHHH I WANTED TO LOVE IT *sighs dramatically*. The covers are gorgeous and the synopsis makes it sound like there's this deeply captivating love triangle and who doesn't love a good love triangle... But this book lacked any sort of romance consisting of more than two brain cells. The characters were bland and robbed of chemistry and depth. The majority of the book just felt like it was lagging--- it ranted on and on about history that supposedly created the Circle that was Avery's direct family, those with the violet eyes *cringe*. First of all, history isn't really my thing unless it tells a story instead of dumping meaningless dates and names that minimize the lives and emotions of the people that actually worked hard to create history and make the world what it is today (this is why I hate history class, it gives no emotion as to what actually happened). Anyways, what I'm attempting to articulate is that THIS BOOK TRIES TO SOUND HISTORICAL WHEN IT IS IN FACT ALL RANDOM BULLCRAP.

Just don't get your hopes up about this YA-39 Clues ripoff-failure at romance- attempt at a YA adventure-novel. Thankyou for your time.

I am really glad that I finished this book. The story line starts picks up towards the middle of the book, and things starts to actually get really interesting: with all the action and adventure. There really isn't a very significant love triangle in this book (which is a good things) , however, I really do wish to get to know more about Stellan in the next book. After all, he seems to be an interesting character.
Overall, I didn't actually get into this book towards the middle of it. But, I am glad that I gave it that chance. So if you want to read this book, give it a chance. The pot line do starts picking up later on.

Just so much fun. Really light read, great for teens that enjoy travel, adventure, and conspiracy. Reminds me of National Treasure and The DaVinci Code. Have to suspend your disbelief for a lot of it, but for teens that can it will be a great read. Not for middle grade readers because of some mature content.

This book was good enough. I enjoyed the characters, the intrigue, the writing style was mostly fine. There was just enough adventure, romance, plot, and jet setting/treasure hunting. Like a watered down Da Vinci Code for teens. Worth reading. I really grew to like the main characters and I look forward to getting my hands on the sequel.

This book was really fun. Going into this book I was aware that the whole plot was kind of impossible and hard to wrap your mind around. So I was prepared when I was like 'WTF that cant happen'. The romance didn't really impress me but over all I did enjoy the book and I have high hops for the next one.
