Loved it. Mu favorite sports romance this year, just in time to get ready for football season.

This was such a good YA romance! It was really sweet, and I liked that they felt like teenagers. I liked that characters were allowed to be flawed without being bad, and despite everything, I felt that everything in the end was both satisfying and earned. I also thought it had a really nuanced take on being in the closet, which I really appreciated. I was a big fan of this book, and I definitely need to read more Dahlia Adler now.

Alright, first of all - a girl playing quarterback for the high school football team?  I'm already in with that point alone.

Anywayyyy, to be honest, the main characters really worked for me.  Jack is someone I wish I could have been in high school.  Jack knew what she was about - or at least what she wanted - AND she was flexible enough (as much as any adolescent can be, developmentally) to shift her goals when her wants changed.  Ahhhh and then there was Amber - the classic cheerleader who does, unfortunately, get caught up in her goals of earning captain and winning a scholarship - so much so that she begins to lose herself (and her morality a bit, ope) during the journey.

I had a genuinely good time reading this.  A LOT of the characters felt like people I knew in high school, which felt pretty bittersweet.  Regardless, I definitely recommend Home Field Advantage 💚💛
