I quit this after Hines book. It just wasn't working for me on audio. The stories were too short to get involved with. I caught myself drifting off thinking about life instead of listening to the narrator. I don't think I'll get the print version I'm just not a fan of shorts.

The Molly Files is now a serious story of its own. Molly finds out exactly how hard it will be to fulfill her duties in the winter court.

The perfect collection for all urban fantasy lovers. Each story was unique and catered to all kinds of tastes. I found some a little sillier than others but on a whole, I really enjoyed this collection! My favourites, in no order, were Cold Case (fun for all Jim Butcher fans), Solus (great urban fantasy story with a super cool hero with a fun personality), Baggage (strong, sexy, LGBT women for the win!), Sales. Force. (though this is arguably one of the darkest and most depressing in the book), and of course, my number one, Impossible Monsters (though it makes me miss Cal and crave more of him)! For the most part the stories stayed on track with the theme, but a couple of them seemed left-field (Eye of Newt especially), but it's been a while since I've delved into genuine adult urban fantasy, so this was just what I wanted and expected. Totally worth checking out!

All the stories were really good, I didn't read one that I didn't like. Would very much recommend.

Pretty entertaining collection of stories, with sort of a "the end justifies the means" theme. Some of the short stories are better than others, and only one or two really grabbed me. Most of them follow the theme of good people doing bad things for the greater good. Generally speaking, I disagree with that particular viewpoint. Too many people justify doing bad things that really don't do much for the greater good, even though occasionally it might be the right choice. Think country leaders with expansionist views grabbing territory and starting wars, or business leaders lining their own pockets or making decisions that are bad for most consumers and employees in the interests of stockholder value or market share. Nonetheless, it is thought-provoking to read stories that raise issues and questions about the idea.

Being a collection of short stories by variety of different authors it makes sense that I loved some and was unimpressed by others. Obviously stories that were branch-off installments about characters from other series were more fun if you had some familiarity with the world and the characters. I was introduced to two or three characters/authors that I've now put on reserve at the library! For that alone, worth my time!

Rating this 4 stars on the strength of the Dresden Files short story alone. Starring Molly Carpenter, the newly anointed Winter Lady, Butcher continues to develop Molly into one of the series' most interesting characters.

Makes me hungry for a full Dresden novel.

The rest of collection was ... OK. No real gems for me.
